On Measurement Units
Added 2023-12-15 18:39:07 +0000 UTCHello friends!
During the course of writing and creating scenes, I have intentionally avoided creating scenarios where characters share information like height or size. The reason for this, is that I believe it would be a nuisance, or too much of a 4th wall break, too include imperial units when a large number of you use metric!
That said, I have a plot point in mind where it simply makes sense to use numbers. Before I get to that point, I wanted to ask: How do you feel about them?

Yeah, it's been easy to avoid them because everything is so visual, but I've written a couple scenes where it just makes sense to have the number. Like, "Woah, could you imagine what life would be like at X feet tall?!" I do like the alternate render idea

Like the Freedumb Measurement version vs. the Common Sense Measurement version. Not saying it's ideal, but it's an option, especially if you make a story that goes heavy with the measurements, like one where there is a weekly checkup at the doctor's office or something. Personally I don't find them as important when it's in a visual medium, the descriptions are only needed if I don't have a visual comparison, but I know some people love to have measurements to track it all.
