Saturday piano meditation - no. 43

Hey there and greetings from Cassina de Pecchi! I‘m still in Italy, today is my second concert here. I’ll play with Gabriele Boggio Ferraris in Milano at Corte Miracoli at 9:30 pm tonight, already looking forward to it! Harp and vibraphone is a very special combination and our first concert on Wednesday was a big success already, lots of people there, some of them even had to stand the whole time cause there weren’t enough chairs for everyone. Very happy that they enjoyed it :)

I recorded this more jazzy piece yesterday evening, it’s a quite weird chord progression for me, usually I stay more tonal with my songs (as you know), but I enjoyed to play around with this. For anyone who‘s interested in it: the chords are pretty much always Emaj7, Cmaj7, A7, Gmaj7 & Dmaj7. And then it starts again.

The piano is a little out of tune, as you can hear, especially in the upper register. Gabriele only got it a few weeks ago and it wasn’t tuned for quite a while. A friend of him gave it to him, before that it was standing in a church for the last years. But still is a special sound to it and every house is better with a real upright piano in it - and a cat! And this one has both now! :)

Somewhere in the end he came into the living room to talk about lunch haha, he didn’t know that I was recording. He‘s a very sweet host and I’m having a great time here, I even managed to check out Milano for the first time. But I’m also happy to be back home tomorrow, as I was travelling a lot within the last months, and I will again in the end of August for some gigs in Berlin. But it’s also good to be busy, very thankful for that :)
