Hey Dad Weekly #2
Added 2022-07-28 14:55:54 +0000 UTCHey Dad,
Welcome back to my weekly ramblings, I hope you're enjoying this stream of consciousness text post update that I've provided for you all. This one is going to be a little short, because it's mostly business as usual.
The Channel
Currently, I'm still hard at work on the Yakuza 5 video. This one is a doozy, as I drastically underestimated the size and scope of this game in general. I'm still shooting for it to be out this Sunday, so you should see it on your screen's by weekends-end. The script was a mammoth to tackle and this will probably be my longest single-game video to date.
Looking to the future, we're on to Yakuza 0. I briefly started playing the game during some downtime and it's an odd one to go back to. 0 was my first Yakuza game that I ever played, so playing it now, years later has been a strange experience for me, but I'm excited to talk about it.
In other channel related news. I just began work on a SUPER SECRET October video. This is going to be a special drop that will be in addition to whatever series I'm working on at the time. I've wanted to make this video for a VERY long time, but I always found the subject matter hard to tackle. I think I've finally cracked it though. It's a big project, and it won't be like my other videos. I'm filming a lot for this one, writing a massive script, doing cool "cinematic" shots. I even have someone working on a soundtrack for the video. I'm very excited for you guys to see this project once it's done. I can't really give out too much information besides the fact that it will be out in October, just in time for spooky season.
Also, keep your eyes peeled for the end of August, because there's going to be another special video drop for the long time fans of the channel.
Other Media
I've been watching a lot of movies lately as I'm particularly behind on the big releases of the year.
I recently watched After Yang which was a fantastic film about a families struggle with repairing their android son. It asks a lot of interesting questions like "What is family?" and it also portrays this future world super well. It is never hokey and over the top with future tech. It all seems realistic and baked into the world. If you're not paying attention you almost wouldn't even know their technology is more advanced than ours. The shots and color are fantastic and the whole movie just looks gorgeous.
I also watched The Innocents which is a film from Norway about kids getting superpowers. This movie was so dark and interesting. It also has some of the best child actors I've seen in a long time. The super powers are always realistic and never over the top. The whole movie feels genuine and true to it's subject matter. But it also gets REALLY dark at certain points. Very good watch that I'd highly recommend.
I finished the 9th volume of Berserk. It's fantastic and now that I've started to get into the political aspects, I can see the Game of Thrones comparisons coming through. It's really well done, and I'm only now realizing that I still have hundreds of chapters left to go.
I started reading Irredeemable & Incorruptible recently. It's a story about a superhero who goes mad and starts taking out cities. It's in a similar vein to Invincible or The Boys, but I feel like it goes a lot farther than those. It's also not about all superheroes being corrupt, just this one (at first). It's a really interesting read and I'm excited to see where it goes.
The only game that I've really been playing lately outside of Yakuza is Multiversus. I was actually shocked at how much fun that game has been. It's been really simple to just pick up and play a few rounds in between editing or writing.
That's about it for this weeks update Dad. Keep an eye out for this Sunday's video on Yakuza 5. Don't forget to catch some streams every now and then, as I've started back into regularly streaming, and am gonna be playing some interesting things over on twitch.
Bye Dad.
Comments
Hey Son, I haven't watched your new video on Yakuza yet. Honestly, been turning it on between bouts of insomnia and I am having to restart. (Also just thanks for not randomly inserting loud noises or screaming in your videos. It is very appropriate to watch at 3am in the morning without waking everyone else up.) Imma get there though. Promise. I was wondering if you could make a off the top of your head list for the favorite jams from DMC and Yakuza OSTs? I know you put a few in your videos, struggling to find the exact points in the DMC video though. Thanks again for the content. I hope you have a wonderful week.

2022-08-02 10:03:29 +0000 UTCKeep up the hard work son, because as they say, nothing in life worth having is easy. And a piece of advice from an old man who's watched others for a while, if you feel you've saved up enough to move out from home... Move somewhere cheap and live well, don't move to somewhere like L.A. Your money will go twice as far if you go somewhere cheaper and a smaller town. Then you can begin looking ahead and think about things like whether or not to stay as a one man band or become an employer and hire staff like editors. But that's just an old man rambling again and dreaming of the heights my favorite son will one day reach.
