I really miss when you guys used to post the early episode on Wednesdays and Thursdays during the week leading up to the video's normal release day on Saturday. I loved checking out this Patreon during my lunch break and getting the awesome surprise of seeing the weekly video out early and watching it while I ate.
I'm guessing this week will have talk about the US creating the 5-star rank? It would be a great time to finally talk about William Leahy, FDR's Chief of Staff. He was the first man to be given the US 5-star rank and I don't recall him even being mentioned in any of the videos on your channel yet. Leahy is one of the most forgotten people of WW2 and really one of the 5 most important people in the whole war in the opinion of most people who have studied Leahy. FDR really knew nothing about war. All the decisions FDR made on the war really came from Leahy and what he thought the US should do or push their Allies to do. Leahy was FDR's top advisor once the war started and had the biggest effect on the US's war effort and what decisions the US made. With George Marshall and Henry Stimson being just below him in the decision-making roles. This is why Leahy was the first US officer given the 5-star rank making him technically a higher rank than George Marshall. Since seniority is the tiebreaker for officers of an equal rank when determining who has the higher rank. Which is why MacArthur is also technically higher ranked than Eisenhower.
