Who wants to come play mermaids in a creek!?

But for real.

This session was so much fun, Kira our siren made her own “mermaid bra” by using a sticky bra and some gorilla glue with various moss/shells! The tail is from Amazon, I can link it if you’re interested!

You guys should have seen kira trying to maneuver her way through the creek while wearing a mermaid tail, it was comical and stressful. we probably only had about 15 to 20 minutes to capture the images we did! There was a unforeseen storm moving in pretty fast. also trying to get our male model, Will, to stop giggling, was a whole other thing in itself.😅😂

I shot this with my Nikon D850, I also tried really hard to create a video promo for this session, but I discovered very quickly that my camera is not built for that type of thing. While the Nikon is a powerhouse of photography, she definitely lacks a few necessities for videography. But now I have caught the itch and I am trying to find a camera that will allow me to do both! I used my 50 mm lens for this from Sigma. Art! Looking back I kind of wish I had used my 35 mm to give me a wider range and to make the whole atmosphere seem larger. But with the storm rolling in quick and trying to play hopscotch across a creek with my $4000 camera I wasn’t thinking quite straight.

I edited them in light room, and I broke one of my crucial rules when editing, and I allowed a deep shadow to remain on the model‘s face for the final image! I typically avoid shadowing on faces, because let’s be honest when you take a picture you want to see someone’s face. But for the emotion of this specific shot, I felt it was perfect.

I am, however, very happy with the outcome of the album, I plan to share more once I have them edited!
