Vampire - the Tilberi
Added 2016-01-21 16:25:05 +0000 UTCI've talked about Tilberi on my site before, they're still one of the most out-there mythological creatures to my knowledge, and I figured they would count as a "vampire" because they both feed on blood and are created from human remains. Still not sure this book will ever come out or not, sadly.
In its original folklore, the Tilberi is a worm-like monster created by witches to steal milk from their neighbor's livestock, which in turn was used to make an exceptionally delicious and valuable butter.
The creature was created from the rib bone of a human corpse, and there were rules regarding what kind of corpse it had to be and when they were buried. The rib would be wrapped in sheep's wool and held between the witch's breasts for a certain number of days before becoming a tilberi, with a head on each end of its body.
The witch then had to carve a new nipple (!!!) into her thigh, which the monster would use to drink her blood between milk-stealing missions.
The only way for a witch to get rid of her own tilberi would be to order it to gather her all of the dung in a pasture, causing it to explode.
