When the corpse-world was just a rough concept, maggot people or "myiasites" like Maggie were considered for its dominant sentient race, and were first envisioned as sad, scared little smurf-like creatures, only subtly maggot-like, who lived in fear of a single worm they treated rather like a dragon.
I actually still really like that idea. It certainly would have been shorter and more compact a sidequest, but I just had too much fun expanding the setting.
Maybe too much. I kind of regret how huge it got compared to the Hospital, but people do seem to have just as much fun with it.
...And the only proper solution is to make some future side-adventure just as epic, obviously. Balances things out, right?
