Brekekekex is a living alien "mecha" borrowing aspects of a War of the World's martian (from the 60's film adaptation), a giant frog head, a pop-eyed goldfish and Evangelion angels. Its name is a sound frogs make, according to a Greek poem.

That is a great/obscure derivation for that name. Aristophanes's stuff is often still funny today.
