I've Been Reincarnated As A Summoned Beast: Chapter 9

Zero

Once I reached the location Euphy was currently located, I couldn’t help but feel rage at her current situation. Without any kind of forward thinking, I dropped my absolute zero on all those who were about to die.

Before I killed Euphy and her mother, I shielded them with a powerful barrier that I can create through my affinity, which is just about unbreakable to most, if not all, attacks. After that I created a cage that would make it impossible for anyone to escape, forcing them to face their impending doom.

Sensing the power level of all those here would only bring disappointment with no real threats and chances to gain life force to gain my eighth tail. There were easily over one hundred men, but the beasts were double that.

Just as before, I saw different creatures I’ve never seen before or amalgamations of multiple animals into one. On my tail threat level scale, most of them weren’t even at four tails in strength, which made it easy pickings for killing off those invaders who dared to bring harm to me or those I now care about.

It was nothing like those entities that I felt within that rip in space when that man from before ran away like a coward. I would need to achieve eight or even nine tails before I attempt to fight whatever they were.

Now being my normal size, I dwarfed everyone in overall size, creating discord in the men and beasts below.

Stepping over the tall walls that I created, I raise my aura to a level that would create an atmosphere impossible to move unless you were close to me in strength. This was a perfect opportunity to get my new fox girl some much-needed experience so I didn’t need to protect her in the future.

Picking Kyomi up with one of my tails, I drop her down in front of me. She looked up with a tilted head, not really understanding my intentions.

Through our link I told her to kill! She was only at two tails, but this could easily raise her to three or four with the abundance of experience currently stuck within my icy walls. My aura was also making it hard for most to even move from their current spot, creating a field of practice dummies for Kyomi to scrap and claw to her heart’s content.

I watched as she gave me a nod, and then turned to face all those who would springboard her power even further.

‘Explode out your aura and rip them all to shreds!’ I commanded.

This little fox could be quite ferocious when given the chance, as she showed no mercy. The sounds of screaming and yelping were heard throughout the area as Kyomi would rip into one after the other. Because of the gap in power between her and everyone else, it became a game to see how fast she could kill her prey.

The first few took multiple slashes to key points of their body to take their life, while most beasts could take upwards of thirty to forty flesh wounds. It didn’t seem to bother her though as her intensity grew as she was committing a massacre. Has she already tapped into frenzy? I wondered.

My gaze on Kyomi softened even more as I felt like I was raising her even though I also had this other inherent feeling that wanted to covet her. Even though I kept denying having any sexual intent towards her, I couldn’t help but wonder if I really did it, what it would feel like.

Turning my head to the side in bewilderment at my thoughts, I scoffed inwardly at what I was currently thinking. The slight bit of humanity I was still holding onto wouldn’t allow me to take that step.

“NO! Don’t kill me!”

“Wait… STOP, PLEASE!”

“I will join your side, so please let me live.”

“Think about my family.”

“RAWWWR!”

“NYUUUGH!”

No matter if it was a beast or a man, they all pleaded for survival as their lives were snuffed out. Kyomi’s beautiful fur was turning into bright crimson, but her appearance and the caking of blood throughout her body did nothing to stop her attacks.

I looked towards Euphy, who was stunned at the brutality, but at the same time she watched on, not looking away.

‘Are you ok, Euphy?’ I asked with sincerity in my voice for her mental well-being.

She suddenly turned in my direction once she realized whose voice she just heard. “Is this really necessary?” After her words she looked down quickly as if afraid of my response. Hearing her from my current distance wasn’t difficult with my heightened senses.

‘Yes.’ I said bluntly. ‘This is a great opportunity to raise Kyomi’s level and create another powerful asset for our team.’

“Our team?” She said with a shaky tone. “Do I even deserve that when my own summon created fear within my heart?”

‘Who knows? All I can say is your faith in our bond diminished greatly, and Kyomi now has more sway over the way I feel. It’s like a ninety-ten split right now in her favor. If you really want to at least be an equal with her, it will take a lot of hugs and kisses,’ I said with a slight snort that everyone heard.

Even though what I said about the bond is theoretically true, I embellished quite a lot to get more of her affection. Do I feel guilty? NO! Let’s see how she reacts. Don’t blame me; I’m an apex predator that gets what he wants.

Without letting her answer, I spoke again, ‘Do you see her aura she’s emanating? That’s the power of my absolute zero, something I’m sure you could also wield if you were more sincere towards me.’

“But… I am sincere.” Euphy said in a mumble that I could pick up clearly.

‘If that was true, why is your resilience towards ice that during my summoning was much stronger than it is now?’

“I, um…” She suddenly stopped talking, becoming deep in thought.

Seeing this as a chance to confront her with what she must understand going forward, I shrunk back down to my huggable self and made my way into the barrier. I then created a dome of ice blocking out the sounds and view of what was happening.

Sitting back on my hind legs, I stare at her intently as she follows my action with a hint of fear still lingering within her.

“Euphy, why did you attend that academy?” I asked quizzically, and at the same time she tilted her head at my words.

While waiting for her response, I located Kyomi, who was still creating a blood splatter painting across the terrain. She had grown in power, signifying the addition of another tail. I couldn’t help but grin internally at this cute little fox trying to prove herself to me.

Now she would have the ability to heal herself if any unforeseen circumstances befell her.

“I wished to summon a beast that could help save our world and prove to my father I was a worthy heir to our guild.” She said with a slight bit of hesitation when Euphy referred to her father.

‘Do you understand what a beast actually is?’

“Umm… a beast protects their summoner?” Euphy replied as if sure and unsure at the same time.

‘Why should they protect their summoner? On what basis?’ A hint of annoyance in my voice, ‘What has the summoner done to create such loyalty?’

Upon my summoning into this world, I felt something trying to invade my mind. The second it entered my body, it was instantly vaporized as if nothing had ever happened. My absolute zero creates a very powerful barrier from any type of mental attack. Magic in general just doesn’t work against me.

I can only assume what it actually was and how it functions. It probably creates some kind of dependency on the one who summoned it and loyalty towards them. That’s why the beasts in this world are so much weaker than the others. They Strip their animal instincts to force them to obey instead of growing at their own pace.

Euphy had no words to my questions. She just stared at me dumbfounded in a constant state of realization at my words.

‘Compared to what I experienced beyond the rift in space earlier, this world is practically doomed.’

“What?” Euphy yelled.

‘Even at my current strength I couldn’t handle what’s on the other side of the rift unless I achieve another tail. Even then, it will be tough. But why should I save them?’ I asked.

“You won’t help us?” She said in a pleading voice.

‘To what end? I have no attachment to the human race anymore and have accepted my bestial instincts.’ I watched as I saw something flicker in Euphy’s eyes. Had she caught on to my hint?

“What do you mean by anymore?” Euphy’s eyes glisten as if finding some hope in these dire circumstances.

‘Hehehe’ I couldn’t help but snicker in her mind. ‘So you understood the implications of my words. It’s true that I was once human before I was reborn into that world I was summoned from. But, after what I went through, I lost a great deal of the humanity I once felt. I also think this is why my bond with Kyomi was possible. Because my human and fox souls fused together, creating two soul bonds within my body.’

“What do you mean by that?” Euphy is flabbergasted at my words.

‘While my human side finds you attractive, the beast in me prefers Kyomi. Since our souls were one and the same, both sides got what they wanted, but at the same time, I think everything will eventually even out.’ Meaning Euphy, if she fully accepts the soul bond, will start turning into a fox.

“Are you saying our connection will start changing me if I fully accept you?” Her eyes were skeptical as she waited for my response.

I’m not entirely sure I should tell her the truth and risk losing her; on the other hand, if I kept this to myself, she could resent me in the future. Having Euphy sprout tails and ears would make her even cuter than she already is, and I’m very much looking forward to it.

‘Well… how would you gain my power without having tails?’ I watched on as her body slumped down as if in despair at my words. ‘It’s the price of power and our bond. You have to either accept it or sever it.’

This hurts me just as much as it probably hurts her. But it’s the reality of the situation. This world is on a timer for its destruction at the whims of those powerful entities on the other side of the rift. As soon as they decide to attack, this world is screwed with their current level.

“I just need to accept you?” Euphy said in a mumble as if somehow coming to a decision.

‘You know from the start I was never under the illusion that a summoner contract would evoke a beast. That’s why I created a soul link between us so we could have a future together. But that’s only if you submit to it the way Kyomi has.’

It’s been a little while since I paid attention to Kyomi’s progress because of my conversation with Euphy. Most of the men and beasts have been eradicated outside, and I could feel Kyomi at the very limit of three tails about to sprout her fourth.

I really do love that little fox. My mind couldn’t help but accept that fact even though there was always one voice telling me no. But it’s getting much fainter to the point I don’t even accept it as my thought anymore.

She’s such a cutie and just wishes for my warmth the way she did all night. I’m not sure of her real emotions towards me, but I know from our bond that she’s fond of me even with my actions towards her.

My mind couldn’t help but favor Kyomi over Euphy at the moment. I just hope she makes the right decision and gives in to what she feels. We would become a pack of three tight-knit foxes who would never betray each other, with love between us.

What else could I ever hope for? Having two beautiful foxes as my mates is now something I desire, along with the huge family we will create in the future.

Giving Euphy my full attention, I wait for her response to what I hope will be good news.
