Chapter 37 - Quirk Replication Begins

After class ended, Hiro gave his internship application to Aizawa. Written in it, of course, is the Rabbit Hero Mirko.

When choosing which hero to intern under, his criteria was different from his classmates. He didn’t care about the hero rankings nor what they could teach him. Instead, he chose based on their Quirks and personality.

Now that he can theoretically copy the Quirk of others, he wanted to choose a hero with a useful Quirk. And due to unfamiliarity, said hero must also be someone he can establish a quick relationship with and allow physical contact with their bodies.

Thus, male pro heroes were instantly eliminated.

No matter how powerful their Quirks are, Hiro would rather wait until he was more proficient with his own ability than touch a grown man all over.

After screening his available choices, he locked in on three.

First was Ryukyu. Her Dragon Quirk allows the user to transform into a large dragon that grants a huge increase in strength and durability, as well as wings that allow for flight.

Having the ability to increase his size is always useful. While he could do the same by making his cells self-replicate countless times to grow big and then destroying them to return to his original size, it was wasteful in terms of energy.

Not to mention, if he traveled to a world in the future where Dragon is a high level concept, being able to transform into one would be a great boon.

Next was Mt. Lady. Her Quirk, Gigantification, does almost the same as Ryukyu’s except for the lack of scales and wings. In compensation, hers provide a bigger size and a higher boost in strength.

Just for this, Hiro already preferred Mt. Lady’s Quirk more. The wings weren’t a problem since he could find a Quirk for flight easily. Durability also wasn’t a concern with his ultra fast regeneration. Mt. Lady’s more outgoing and flirtatious personality also meant that getting close to her was easier than with the serious Ryukyu.

However, her fame-hungry personality was a problem. He could already see it. Once he picked her, Mt. Lady would instantly post on her socials the next day that the winner of the Sports Festival was interning under her. She’d parade him on the streets during the whole internship, using his newly brought fame to boost her own.

Finally, there was Mirko. Being chosen by her was a surprise for sure. As far as he knew, this rabbit hero preferred to work alone. He didn’t think she’d even bother to send invitations to anyone, but perhaps he underestimated his own charm?

Anyways, her Rabbit Quirk was less useful for him than Ryukyu’s and Mt. Lady’s. It could serve as a permanent strength buff to his legs, but other than that, her Quirk couldn’t provide anything his Biokinesis could already do.

However, she also possesses other advantages. While it would take days, and possibly even a whole week or more, for him to establish a close enough relationship with Ryukyu and Mt. Lady, it was different with Mirko.

He was confident in making her obey in a day or two.

That would give him more time to experiment with his Quirk. Along with the fact that Mirko only takes on combat-related missions, he’d have the opportunity to study the villains they took out. He could even do the more invasive experiments on the especially heinous ones.

Yes. Copying Mt. Lady and Ryukyu’s Quirks can wait. For now, he’d prioritize getting more familiar with his own ability.

He walked out of the school, smiling at the group of girls who were staring at him as he walked past. He ignored their ensuing screams and giggles, being used to it already.

During lunch, he even heard something about a group of girls recruiting for a fan club dedicated to him. Hiro really hopes that the school would have enough sense to not approve that.

He stopped as he stepped out of the gate. Instead of taking the usual path back home, he headed towards a black limousine parked one street away.

The door opened from the inside before he could knock on the window. There, Momo in her school uniform sat prim and proper on a luxurious-looking sofa. There was a bright smile on her face as she invited him in. Sitting next to her was Mina, who raised a can of orange juice with a foreign label in her hand in greeting.

“Thanks, Momo.”

Hiro said as he entered the spacious interior. He sat on the sofa opposite the two girls and took a bottle of green tea and blueberry cake from the minifridge at Momo’s offer.

After seeing that he had settled himself in, Momo signalled the driver through the nearby mic, and the limousine drove off.

“Your family car is amazing, Yaomomo! It’s complete with snacks, drinks, and even a huge TV for entertainment!”

Mina said in awe, swirling the can in her hand before drinking in a sophisticated fashion.

“Oh no, this is something my parents gave to make sure I could relax after school. The family car we use for vacation is much larger and more complete.”

“I-is that right?”

Mina chuckled, a drop of cold sweat falling from her forehead. The fact Momo said it so seriously made her unsure how to respond. Her gaze shifted around, and finally locked onto Hiro, who was silently sipping his green tea and didn’t seem bothered at all by what Momo just said.

“B-by the way! Hiro, what do you mean earlier about testing your Quirk? You still haven’t told us the specifics.”

“I was about to, but you agreed so readily earlier I didn’t even have time to properly explain.”

Hiro replied with a shrug of his shoulders. He set his bottle down on the arm chair and took note of its brand. For a bottled tea drink, it was quite refreshing.

“Ehehe, well, it’s the first time you’ve asked me for help. Of course I wouldn’t refuse!”

“Me as well. Even until now, I’m still practicing my Quirk according to your suggestions. Helping you with yours is only appropriate.”

Momo said, her palms clasped together on top of her lap as she stared at him intensely.

“You two really are…”

Hiro helplessly shook his head.

“Anyways, thanks. I already said that my Quirk had advanced after this Sports Festival and had gained new abilities. The one I want to test is whether I could copy the Quirks of others.”

“Wait, really!? How does a body control Quirk even evolve to have an ability like that?!”

Mina asked, her mouth and eyes wide open. Fortunately, the back compartment of the car was soundproofed. Otherwise, her loud shout could have disturbed the driver.

“I can do that by controlling my cells to mimic others. Of course, I’m still not sure whether I can achieve it, which is why I need your help. Both of your Quirks are activation-type, which makes it easier for me to detect them. Though now that you know what I want to do, are you still willing to assist me?“

“Of course! You’re amazing, Hiro! If you succeed, you’d definitely become the strongest hero- stronger than even All Might!”

Momo answered without hesitation. Her eyes shone brightly as she stared at the white-haired teenager before her. Her voice awakened Mina from her stupor, who then also agreed.

During the rest of the trip, the two girls inquired what else Hiro can do with his newly evolved Quirk. They also discussed which Quirks he should try to copy, which made him chuckle.

After some time, the limousine passed through a massive metal gate and arrived in front of a huge mansion. A group of maids came to receive them. However, Momo dismissed them and personally led her two classmates through countless hallways and into her bedroom.

“This should leave us undisturbed. So! Hiro, how do we begin? Do I start by creating something simple?”

Momo asked, her tone full of eagerness. She didn’t even notice the stunned look on Mina’s face that had been present since they entered this mansion, and that only intensified after seeing the ‘bedroom’ which was two times larger than their classroom.

However, Hiro’s response made the pink-skinned girl’s brain crash further, almost making her wonder if she had been affected by a hallucination Quirk when she left the campus.

“First, strip off and lay on the bed.”
