This Is The Last Time
Added 2020-01-01 18:25:05 +0000 UTCCATC 3 has taken some unexpected turns, and the lack of patience people has is really starting to get to me. It is annoying to have people tell ME as the creator what I need to do and how to do it, when they have NO IDEA just how trying doing this stuff is. Behind the scenes, this shit isn’t easy. I am doing audio, post editing, animation, lighting, story boarding, searching for/hiring voice actresses, ripping audio from multiple sources, searching for new audio, creating new audio, editing old audio, BY MYSELF. I am not a team, I am ONE PERSON. Whether it’s dealing with unexpected crashes, glitches in the renders, editing software malfunctioning, whatever...there are some things that CAN NOT BE CONTROLLED, and I have to deal with it all ALONE. With that being said, I will not do this again. All of that, plus the constant questions(which I don’t mind until they start to get assertive), pressure, negative feedback on delays I can’t help? Yeah, that’s too much for me. Enjoy CATC 3, because this is the absolute last time I do anything this big. Seriously. If this is how it is to be a creator of this type of content, I can see why so many good artists have left this community. It isn’t just stuff happening/being said on Patreon either, it’s pornhub, DA, Twitter, discord, and Ekas as well.
After completing one more commission(which won’t take nearly as long as CATC 3), I will be going back to the smaller, more frequent animations and posters. This entire process has been a lot, and normally I can handle that type of stuff, but that on top of all the other things mentioned has not made for a good time. Perhaps in the future I will change my mind, but in my current state? Absolutely not. Sorry.

The troglodytes that are giving you a hard time likely do not have a life or understand the creative process and its constraints. This understandably must be giving you a hard time, but remember these people aren't your real fans, the real appreciators of your art are here backing you up, and we want you to succeed and continue doing what you love whether it takes one month or one decade. The only thing I can recommend moving forward is for you to take a break and block those idiots, and if you ever return to a project like this be as phantasmal and mystical as you can be so these imbeciles can't hold you to their ignorant and petty expectations. We love you, and you are currently the best content creator in this realm.

After going through the things I've went through with Hitfilm, I'm definitely willing to give it another shot cause WHEW man! I really just need something that I can add audio to certain scenes with and as you said, stitch together the renders. It also needs to be able to let me add text. I'm gonna give it another shot! The comments here have DEFINITELY helped open my eyes...like a LOT!!! Thank you so much for this!

I know it's easier said than done, but try not to let those assholes get to you. Idk what it is about these niche fetish communities, but they consistently seem to be overrun with these ridiculously entitled assholes who insist on ruining it for everyone else. Just know that there is a quiet majority that unanimously agrees that you are doing God's work, and the amount that you put into these productions out of the goodness in your heart is truly remarkable. Assume you've not got the budget for Premiere or Media Composer but if you're only needing it to stitch together the renders then have you tried using the in-built editor in DaVinci Resolve? It's predominantly for professional colour grading but the in-built editor, while basic, is rock solid reliable. Plus the base version is free. Might not be suitable depending on how advanced an editor you need, but it's infinitely more reliable than either HitFilm or Vegas. Either way try not to let the complainers occupy too much mindspace. Easier said than done, obviously, but the comments here should indicate that most people are on side.

I’ve been using hitfilm express and this shit is disgusting. The UI is gross, and the program itself is so unreliable it’s crazy. They just recently updated and made it even worse 🤦🏽♂️. I wouldn’t have this problem if I could get my Vegas back but 😭😭😭

Delays just can’t be helped sometimes, and as a small studio/single person, we don’t have a technical department we can call on to help solve the issue, it’s just us, and if we don’t know how to fix it, we have to figure out a way or roll with the issue. Kickstarters and their delays are actually a GREAT example of how things can go. I will definitely take your advice though...just gotta have thicker skin, but as an artist, I’m naturally sensitive about my work 😭❤️

I've seen people torn up by people getting way too into demanding things work the way they want exclusively. It happens to everyone sadly, and is almost an eventuality. From game design to art to movies to animations, creators are hassled by people who want to demand exactly what they want when they want. I wish I could change your mind, remind ya there are people here who actually want to support ya just for your creativity, but it doesn't change how loud the rowdy ones get. And they always seem to hide, preferring to use messages rather than communication boards, so they don't get exposed for the minority voice they are. Sadly it's how our society has developed around the internet, anonymity running rampant and giving more voice to the smaller groups to terrorize who they want and pretend their voices are the only ones that matter. Take some time, chill it off. Listen to some Macklemore or other chill and upbeat musicians to give you a better mood. We'll be here for ya, still supporting your art once you're strong enough to keep at it.

As someone who backs kickstarters often you get used to the projected dates being an rough estimate but even with a full team they are always delayed. Working by yourself delays are even more detrimental and as someone who works with computers all sorts of stuff can pop up. Knowing some random date won't make the product come out any faster and virtually all delays are to ensure quality . The pride you have in your work is what makes the content so wonderful, don't let the impatient kids get ya down, they are just vocally impatient.

If multimillion corporations can't nail deadlines 100% of the time, why on Earth would you expect a lone operator to? If they're helpful and constructive, nothing to worry about. If they aren't, but help pay your bills all you need to worry about is whether they're going to leave or not. If they're not, you just keep doing you. If they're going to leave, well that's one less voice you have to pay attention to. 2020-01-01 20:05:09 +0000 UTCFunny that you say that, because the animators behind the redesign of Sonic, who’s real job it was to redesign him, caused the movie to be delayed for months to insure quality and it was met with praise, not backlash, but since I’m only a person and not an entire studio, I shouldn’t expect that I suppose. There was never any date given before I said that it would be released today. The most I said was that I hoped I could release it by Christmas, and gave an update on the amount of progress I had made, not that any of that was the official release date. The only official release date announced was me saying today was the day.

I was being CONSTANTLY PRESSURED to provide an upload date, so I did, and then guess what happened? A ton of bullshit that I couldn’t control that prevented me from meeting the date everybody wanted so bad. Had people not been wanting a date so bad, there wouldn’t have been one in the first place. If you go back to any of my comment threads on any of my other platforms, that is the question you’ll see the most. It got to a point where if I would post anything or comment under anything else, that would be the question I was met with. I gave you all a date because of the pressure of having a date provided.

I though about this for a long time last night and I know that's how I would have responded hell just look back at past posts before a date was announced people were chill patient and were supportive and giving praise for the most part so don't give up dude just take this as a learning experience and don't give dates for the next project I really don't want to see you quit pushing yourself to get bigger and better just because of one project it was your first attempt at something this big and you honestly did it better then most first timers don't give up on big projects. I know I was not the ideal fan yesterday and I regret that but people are always going to be like that just ignore them don't let them break you ^_^

Didn’t eat, didn’t even drink water, I was just focused. The digital age is great, but because it’s DIGITAL, there’s also that small percentage of unreliability. It’s just nice to know that someone can relate to the behind the scenes struggles honestly...like a breath of fresh air lol. I assure you though, the wait is WELL worth it! And yea it totally just sucks the life and fun from doing anything. 2020-01-01 18:36:43 +0000 UTCI’ve witnessed it happen to other creators as well, and in fact I’m 95% positive that’s what happened to Null(old AV animation creator) and AVPSD. Going from spectator to creator, you get a whole new level of understanding. I didn’t think it would take THIS MUCH of a toll on me, but holy shit it hits hard when all I want is a positive result and instead get constant backlash for doing the best that I can.

2020-01-01 18:36:41 +0000 UTCI’m excited big time to see catc 3 but I understand that delays can happen it’s like waiting for a big video game only for it to be delayed like the spyro reignited I was gutted when they delayed it but it was worth the wait and with catc 3 it will be the same because I always love your stuff bobby it’s a shame idiots have to ruin stuff like this I share your pain of the issues with rendering I used to do media stuff in college and had my fair share of glitches and issues with editing software which can cause frustration but all I can say is take your time if it has to be delayed again then so be it we can’t control that it’s something that happens it just means the wait will be worth it when it’s released also happy new year I hope this year goes well for you
