"Dear Isabella, this ring will stay on your foot forever," he said with a slight mockery.
"But, Kaidan, the ring will interfere with my putting on my shoes!" she exclaimed with concern in her voice.
"Don't worry, my dear," Kaidan whispered, gently stroking her face, "Mrs. Isabella Sanders will never wear shoes again. From now on, you will only go barefoot."
"You are my joker," Isabella smiled, hoping that he only wanted to tease her. But Kaidan's face remained serious and unwavering, which caused Isabella a slight worry and anxiety.
