The Highs And Lows Of VN Development

If you've been around a long time, you've probably gotten the (correct) impression that I am an enthusiastic person, easily getting excited with the next new shiny thing and openly letting myself get carried away just for the rush it provides.

Indeed, very excited I was earlier this week when I told you about my four concurrent commissions. Unfortunately, some bad news came in.

The artist I commissioned for the secret game did indeed deliver their first order, but desisted from the project right after.

So that makes the third artist I attempt to employ for this project that passes on the game, and it leaves me with two commissions of the same character sprite in wildly different styles that are basically unusable because their visuals would clash with the rest of the game if I were to hire a fourth artist.

That's nothing to say about the money sunk into it so far, which I can tank, but it's clearly been a waste.

I was merely annoyed at this turn of events when it happened two days ago, but I have grown quite grumpy about it since then. Have I lost my touch interacting with artists? Is this project cursed?

I do believe that the only reasonable reaction to this chain of events is to let go of the project altogether. Apologies to everyone for having wasted your time about it. Let's hope next time is going to turn out better.

Perhaps in opposition to this lost opportunity, I dove head first into making the best H scene possible with artist Chayon's new art for the game Don't Flex On Me Yumi-Chan!!!. I attached a little tease of what's in store for you to this post, as you have already noticed, no doubt.

But this dedication to the scene means more work than I first expected, capitalizing on different close-up shots of the scene and trying to make the artwork shine in the best light possible.

So please expect a new build of Yumi-Chan before the end of the month, this is where my efforts are going towards, for the month of October.

And that's it. This time, I'm still a bit too miffed for the regular chill end-of-update chit-chat. Sorry. I'll calm myself down over the weekend and come back energized next week.

Until then, stay safe (and calm) out there!
