Upcoming Podcast/Interview

I just finished recording an interview with the folks at the Aliens Vs Predator Galaxy website for their podcast. Derek Thompson was also on hand as we discussed the Predator: Bad Blood mini-series that we collaborated on for Dark Horse Comics back in 1993. We didn't talk much about the Predator series I penciled in 1991, Predator: Big Game, which was fine by me (it's still the best-selling comic series I've ever worked on and ever will work on, despite my amateurish art).

Derek left comics fairly early to work in the film and video game industries, he did a stint at ILM working on one of the Star Wars prequels as well as designing creatures for multiple films, and currently in his twentieth year at Pixar as a story artist. Derek's designs for the two Predators in Bad Blood have been made into sought-after figures by NECA as well as statues (none of which were ever sent to us, because that's how the comic book folks get treated). We talked about the movies a little, the comic and characters, what it was like collaborating on the series, problems we had working on the series, and the belated legacy of the comic after time passed and Predator fandom grew. Most of which was news to us until recently. Apparently the Bad Blood Predator and the so-called Enforcer Predator have become mini-icons in the fandom. Which is pretty wild. We also talked about aspects of Bad Blood that may have informed some material in the Predator sequels, which is more or less news to me (although I saw Aliens vs Predator last year and thought the ending seemed kind of familiar in places. Which isn't a huge surprise because the filmmakers are allowed to use anything they choose to from the various tie-in stories done for comics, games, etc).

Anyway, I'll let folks know when the podcast interview is posted. As usual, Winky makes an appearance. She's my favorite Predator of them all.
