Update 9-5-24
Added 2024-09-06 01:47:26 +0000 UTCWhelp, our plumbing problem took a turn for the worse, to the point where Sarah has booked a hotel room because we have no water. There's a broken sewer pipe below our house, which I guess is good news in that it's not outside the house, and our insurance will supposedly cover the jackhammering of the concrete, the digging down and the repair. (but not the cost of the new pipe for some reason, the insurance rep didn't know why, either, and we're too busy and tired to look it up). The shower is backed up with some foul stuff, and only Winky is enjoying any of this, the excitement and movement of furniture and objects away from problem areas has gotten her worked up, and she's racing around the house.
We've had three plumbing/sewer cleaning crews in here since yesterday, one will return tomorrow morning to start tearing stuff up. We'll have to come in to oversee and let them in and hopefully it's something that can be dealt with in a day. Or two.
Insult to injury, I moved the car last night so the plumbers would have space to park in front of our house, and I got a $115 parking ticket. There's a "No Standing" sign in the trees and it was invisible at night. Sarah parked there the day yesterday for the plumbers. I'll take pictures and try to fight it. Whomp whomp whomp.
In the meantime, I still hope to go to the block party in Brooklyn on Saturday. Stephen DeStefano is going to be there, which is awesome, so if all goes well, Stephen, Robbie, Greg and me from Instant Piano will all be together, with R. Sikoryak and others.
Otherwise -- how is it only a quarter to ten pm?
