Update 5-23-24

I'm sorry I haven't been very active this month, and that things have been kind of fallow since April. There's been a few things going on that have affected my work, mainly issues with my arm and hand that have kept me from getting a lot of things done.

On Saturday I finally got my steroid shot (cervical epidural steroid injection C-7/T1, which sounds much more of a big deal. But it was just a few shots and I went home). Fingers crossed it will ease the pain in my arm and drawing hand, I'll know in about two weeks or so, apparently. Fingers crossed, if I could cross my fingers without risk of them freezing in place (not exaggerating, it's happened). My pain management doctor decided to do the shot for my arm/hand first, because of how that pain is affecting my work and income. I'm supposed to get a shot for the degenerative arthritis in my neck, which is adding to my arm and hand issues, and shoulder pain. I hope the shot works, I can't imagine what it would be like to have the pain eased. let alone dealt with. I've had these problems since the 90s, but it never prevented me from doing things the way it has been for the past year. Drawing and typing has been difficult, and my linework has been affected. I'm having to correct a lot of lines rather than be able to just lay them down. Very frustrating.

Otherwise, yeah. Not much going on, a lot piling up. Pushing some drawings forward when I'm able to. Trying to sell art and stuff. I have a non-comics project in the works with a friend of mine that looks like fun and might even earn us something, we'll see how that goes. I'm stuck on a name for a reprint project, waiting for another reprint project to be solicited. Still waiting to hear back from a publisher about some story pitches they asked me for. I need to get the last commissions done and get back to Beasts of Burden. The next episode of the Tear Them Apart podcast is due to be uploaded soon, I'm trying to get the title cartoon done for that.

I have about two weeks without doctor or dentist appointments for the first time in months and I'm hoping to bear down and move some stuff forward. My therapy appointments are switching to Thursdays. My physical therapy appointments are winding down, according to my insurance.

It hasn't been very exciting around here. Oh, I am almost done with a new Fun Strip.

Thanks for being here. More, soon, promise.

This is all very kind of you to say and I just appreciate the support you and everyone here has given me. I treat the two Patreons I support the same way, it's an "overall" support, the same with WFMU who I back every year I can, even in the lulls when I'm barely listening. Still, I want the Patreon to give back as much and as often as it can. Anywa, thanks again, this means a lot to me.

Not really, it's back issues so it's not something I'd ever see anything out of. But, still, maybe two or three curious readers decide to find an issue to read and they enjoy it? And maybe pick something new up, or connect it to something else I did and they remember my name for future stuff? It happens. Sometimes. You never know. And it's press, and press is always good and it's nice to have the old stuff remembered. And things in print are so rare, it's a nice throwback to the 90s for my ego, if not my wallet. I'm happy anyone remembers my work.

No apologies or promises necessary -- speaking only for myself, I'm here as a "patron" (I still think this framing is gross) because I Support Evan Dorkin and the stuff he thinks of and creates, not because I expect a rigid update schedule and am flipping tables if you're not keeping up a punishing update regimen. I 100% get that you're a diligent person who wants to do right by the terms of people signing up, but, like, it's okay to be recovering from medical shit, man. The thought of you pushing yourself in a way that might affect your recovery for "the patrons" makes me feel way worse than you skipping a couple of updates.

Hey, I saw your work on Milk and Cheese was featured in the Comic Shop News as a back issue gem. Does that help you at all?
