PROCESS: Chibi Tanya
Added 2021-07-02 17:11:32 +0000 UTCSo June has flown by in a whirl! As always, thanks so much everyone for being a part of my patreon! I wanted to start July with some process images of my little chibi. Side note--let me know if any of you have a preference for video step-by-steps or images!
The first image is actually an update from the one I previously posted. Changes are based on our instructor’s feedback--I altered some things like increasing the size of the scarf to make the figure look more proportional, adding more details to the scarf, face, etc.
Even though this is just a cute little chibi assignment and we were given a template for the pose, this is also my general character design process:
--Lineart: perspective/rough figure, refining the figure, adding clothes/accessories, adding in the weapon, cleaning everything up
--Render: add in base color, shadows on a multiply layer, and then rendering in light and details at the end.
I've also included a sampling of my references--I prefer to reference from real life whenever possible, so I definitely like to go overboard from time to time--Pinterest is great for pulling up images! I'll usually copy and paste everything into Adobe Illustrator; it's really easy to rotate/flip images, draw lines on top and crop, and have everything in one place, but the only small downside is you do end up with some very large Illustrator files.
I think I personally still like the flat colored version more? Either way these could be cute stickers or something!
