Character Spotlight: Talon, the Aviator
Added 2022-02-10 06:46:15 +0000 UTCAs we just wrapped up the development work on the first Season Pass - Celia, it's time we meet Talon (Tactical Aviatic Low Orbit Network), a former war hero and ace pilot in the lunar war, now a slovenly and unmotivated orbital traffic navigation mainframe installed in Neo Kingsport's cosmodrome control tower dreaming to dogfight once more.
Talon participated in thousands of engagements over the course of the Lunar War as a command hub for unmanned orbital fighter groups. Each drone housed an instance of her execution module, forming a sophisticated deep neural network within the swarm. The AI swarm quickly adapted tactics and strategies far beyond the ken of their creators - a seemingly innocuous move would turn out to be deadly later after hundreds of turns, with maneuvers outshining the most brilliant of human pilots.
Like most of her comrades, Talon transitioned to civilian life post-war. She commanded the Archimedes through the dense asteroid-ridden Kuiper Belt as its AI pilot, delivering the vessel to Yuggoth unscathed. After the construction of Neo Kingsport, Talon was installed as the orbital command mainframe in the cosmodrome control tower.
Talon seems slack at a glance, often nodding off on the job and driving Celia mad when they work together. Despite that, Celia knows that Talon has no problem getting the job done without compromise even in sleep mode. This carefree, lackadaisical ex-pilot with an Australian accent dearly awaits the day she can spread her wings once more, free as a bird - a day that might soon be arriving.
