Heya everyone! In the past two weeks we have initiated the work on the Operation Lovecraft 's combat system. Our vision is to create a turn based combat system with strategic depth and interesting mechanics. The skirmishes take place on hexagonal grid based maps, and each character will have a unique set of tactic cards the player builds throughout the journey to help them carry on with the fight against eldritch horrors.
For example, as an ex police officer Alet's deck primarily focuses on the usage of cover and crowd control techniques. Alet's damage output cards are more of warning shots early on in a skirmish, but with the situation escalated she can gradually turn off her lethal force limiter and become a killing machine. She is also able to bash enemies into a stunned status so they miss out their next turn, or block incoming damages with her massive riot shield. She has a unique "Rooted" status triggered by various tactic cards to prevent her from being moved by enemy abilities. Although she cannot move herself either with this status activated, Alet is capable of performing overwatch attacks in enemy turn and her SMG attack cards become deadlier and have a wider range if she is rooted or stands adjacent to environment covers.
Our environment team has doubled as well and soon you will see the progress on new maps and scenes beyond Archimedes Orbital Station in the game.
