You are so right. series 1 is fine, but every other series is much better.

The man is an absolute force of nature and you may have seen him in Flash Gordon or I, Claudius (where he is genuinely superb). It is, by the way, the law, that when referring to him in text, it's always BRIAN BLESSED in block capitals. The size of his persona demands it.
