The butcher, Helix, licked his lips as he measured Spem. “Damn, you’re a find cut of meat,” the Maine Coon said, grinning. “I can’t wait to see a satisfied customer gobble you up.”
The reserved Dox (deer-fox mix) blushed and nodded shyly. “Thanks,” he murmured.
Helix smiled, and continued to measure him, bringing the tape measure around various parts of the Dox. “Alright, let’s get some sauce on you, then we’ll put you in the window,” he said, bringing Spem over to the table, where a large platter was. “Lie down, won’t you?”
Spem obeyed, and Helix brought out a bottle of barbeque sauce. A few minutes later, the Dox was all sauced up, and Helix looked satisfied. “Tasty,” he commented. “Let’s get you in the window.”
He carried the platter to the front window and set Spem down. Now all they had to do was wait for a customer.
