I'm thinking she is an aristocratic heiress, who designs clothing and accessories for a hobby. She models the clothing herself, and the viewer is her new photographer, who has just complimented her on how elegant she looks in just the long gloves. "Why thank you my dear, that's awfully sweet of you to say. What's that? Yes, they're velvet. How astute of you to notice. It feels delightfully soft, you know? Come here, let me show you."
