Bill chats with RiffTrax video editor Casey June about R.O.T.O.R.!
Added 2020-09-11 21:47:15 +0000 UTCThis ongoing Traxian extra series continues with Bill talking to RiffTrax video editing master Casey June about an underrated RiffTrax gem, the goofy 1987 RoboCop / Terminator / Judge Dredd mashup R.O.T.O.R. What does that acronym stand for? It's not exactly clear!

"But mostly it just does this insane garbage." R.O.T.O.R. is probably the finest movie that pushes the ridiculous bad movie envelope without crossing over into self-conscious bad (like Sharknado). It's one of my absolute favorites, and the riffs were inspired. Great choice, Casey, and thanks for the interview, Bill.

2020-09-18 10:44:41 +0000 UTCThanks for publishing this chat. I had bought R.O.T.O.R. but hadn't watched it yet. I watched it yesterday and it was hilarious. It really perked up my afternoon.

2020-09-15 18:58:26 +0000 UTCJust dropping in to say that my maiden name really truly is Coldiron, a name which is not made up. This is part of the reason I'm so in love with this riff, but only part.

2020-09-12 07:31:31 +0000 UTCR.O.T.O.R is ROTOR spelled backwards!

2020-09-12 02:25:41 +0000 UTCThe scene with the Beach Boys song references is some of the most surreal dialog in any of these films.

2020-09-12 01:42:43 +0000 UTCBill, thanks so much for doing these! It was a stroke of pure genius to combine the staff interviews with their thoughts on a specific movie. I'm saving these along with the episodes to watch like a "special feature" for the movie. It's great to see the whole RT team enjoying and reacting to these movies the same way we fans do. Thanks for making the whole Traxian thing worth it - keep 'em coming .

2020-09-11 23:27:48 +0000 UTCR.O.T.OR. is quite possibly my favorite riff. The movie is just so full of bizarre things. The random Beach Boy references, Shoeboogie, the woman who immediately discovers that R.O.T.O.R is completely overcome by car hornsβbut then forgets and rediscovers (and then forgets) five or six times, the "lets pad the film" hold-up scene where hostage knows karate. Taking time out from the pursuit of R.O.T.O.R. to get Skunkhead Gymlady checked into her hotel. The surprise (no, really!) "we just didn't know how else to end the movie" endingβ¦ Such a baffling, glorious mess, and such fertile ground for riffing. Thanks guys!

2020-09-11 23:00:12 +0000 UTCWatched R.O.T.O.R. straight just before Rifftrax came out with it - and it's a fantastic watch all on its own - the Rifftrax take is the icing on the cake - particularly the line set: Coldiron, on answering machine: "R.O.T.O.R. is out..." Bill: "And skunk-head gym-lady is IN!"
