Since we're all stuck inside together as our society collectively deals with the COVID-19 coronavirus, a few of my favorite works on this sort of subject sprang to mind, and I wanted to record my thoughts on them for you.
I hope this audio dispatch helps make your self-quarantine a tiny bit more enjoyable.

2020-03-25 23:36:53 +0000 UTCI'd add Outbreak with Dustin Hoffman and the latest The Mist movie from Stephen King gets really good into they psychology of panicky people. Contagion is just too real for me as is The Road, the butcher cellar scene was too much.

I might mention that something I really enjoy watching when I’m actually sick is the original series Star Trek episode “The Immunity Syndrome” in which they fight the giant invading virus. I’m, like, “YEAH!!! Blow that &@$!%# all to hell!”

2020-03-21 23:00:49 +0000 UTCDefinitely recommend the book of The Stand, and there's a TV remake supposed to be out this year, not sure what'll happen to that... World War Z is a good read in an apocalyptic vein, and works well as an audio book if you're so inclined.

Also enjoyed John Birmingham’s self-aware tribute to The Stand, called Zero Day Code. Agree these books make the current situation seem ok by comparison!
