Talkin' RiffTrax: Sherlock Holmes with Bridget Nelson, Mary Jo Pehl, and Matthew J. Elliott!
Added 2020-01-17 17:49:27 +0000 UTCGreetings, Traxians!
Erik here with a very special audio episode of Talkin' RiffTrax!
Bridget and Mary Jo are working on a brand-new riff on another adventure of Sherlock Holmes. While they were writing it, I thought it would be super fun to get our very own resident Sherlock expert, and RiffTrax Presents writer/riffer, Matthew J. Elliott, to discuss the topic of riffing on Sherlock with them through the magic of the Internet.
Matthew was the first to riff on a Sherlock film (you know, the one with Robert Downey, Jr. as the famous detective? Yep, that one) — Mary Jo and Bridget took on a few of the Basil Rathbone Sherlock films, and Bridget even riffed with Matthew for The Deadly Necklace last June.
Now, please enjoy our first-ever Trans-Atlantic episode of Talkin' RiffTrax, wherein all three riffers stopped by to talk about this popular character, his many appearances in the movies, and what this all has to do with Jude Law's hair.
Enjoy!

2020-01-21 04:01:21 +0000 UTCWow: I'm a big fan of Leslie Charteris (and George Sanders's portrayal of The Saint), so hearing that Charteris was writing radio Sherlock Holmes shows-- holy cats, I have to find those now! Also: it's always been interesting to see Watson's evolution from a very competent doctor and wounded war veteran in the Holmes stories to his (arguably loving) relegation to his cinema place as Holmes's well-meaning but bumbling sidekick. He was kind of a Doctor Who companion before there was a Doctor Who.

2020-01-18 17:00:50 +0000 UTCHilarious interview. Thanks for sharing it. Now if you’ll excuse me, I think I’m going to rewatch The Last Woman on Earth since it has all three of them and Ian, too.
