Reviewing a Riff: MARTIAL LAW with Mike, Sean and Conor

Hi everyone. Mike Nelson.

Here's a little window into our review process as we prepare a script for riffing. For this one it's me and writer/producers Conor Lastowka and Sean Thomason. This process occurs when we're pretty far along in the writing process, as we clean up repeated jokes or tweak this or that; we have maybe one or two chances to make changes after this.

This particular film is Martial Law (coming to the site on Friday), an absolutely amazing pastiche of elements from Sylvester Stallone's Cobra, Amir Shervan's Samurai Cop, and Steven Seagal's, well, everything. Plus, it stars Chad McQueen and Cynthia "Kandra Syn" Rothrock!

Please enjoy.

I request more trucks backing up, Mike!

I loved this! More of this kind of behind-the-scenes sausage-making please (and yes I know that just like seeing how the sausage is made, I might regret this request later) (no no, just kidding, love all you folks)

This was a fun watch, Thanks. I must say, The Carradine jokes are growing on me. Even though he was murdered and the US and Thailand Governments agreed to called it "Suicide" because they knew they wouldn't be able to work together to find the killer.

I like all these inside the process bits. Keep them going!

Not sure why, sometimes, but I generally enjoy peeks inside the processes that create things I enjoy. Part of it is the sense of being more present, welcome in a more intimate setting, like sitting in on a podcast production. Thanks for the look inside.

Does he eat Jacky Rabbit stew?

We've heard plenty of times how different writers are given different portions of the script to work on and it's then brought together. I sometimes wondered if this was a problem since writer A might have a special area of knowledge or interest that would only apply to something in writer B's section. But I suppose with this review process at least the three biggest writers all have a chance to add to another section if something is too good to pass up.

It took me half way through the video to figure out that it wasn't MY mouse cursor that was apparently going insane. Seriously though, always enjoy seeing how the Rifftrax "sausage" is made. Looking forward to another David Carradine film being riffed! He truly takes my breath away.

So that's how David got hooked on that... thing...

This is awesome and why I'm very happy to support you guys...
