IMPORTANT: Changes in Patreon tiers – New tier added for videos

This day was coming. I knew it.

Well, not exactly. I had anticipated something akin to this, but not very precisely—for I am not a fortune teller.

Videos take a lot of time to shoot, edit, revise, edit, upload and publish, and as they are high-quality 4K videos, they require a lot of storage space, juice from my computers and extremely expensive video gear. Vimeo's Pro subscription costs money as well.

And now that YouTube has demonetised pretty much everything I do, no matter how PG things get, this is the only choice—to put Project L's videos behind a paywall. It's not a choice I'm making with a happy face.

To make up for the difference in losing YouTube's support, the 2 € paywall was not high enough, unfortunately, so after carefully listening to your opinions, reading your e-mails thoroughly and losing sleep over thinking that I'm a greedy bastard, I set the video tier in 3,5 euros, which I hope will sound fair to you.

At the same time, the 2 € tier saw some changes too; henceforth it is a tier that has only access to behind the scenes on Photour and work in progress photos in Patreon, as well as access to polls, comments and Discord, of course. All upcoming short or long videos will be locked behind the 3,5 € paywall.

But to make things clear—I will not retroactively change the permissions on old videos, so your access to older Patreon-only videos and publicly published on YouTube will remain the same.

I will still continue to upload shortened videos to YouTube, as well, but the full-length videos with us being silly, without any excess anti-censorship limitations, will be published secretly to Vimeo behind a paywall.

Another change was made to the 5 € tier as well; access to the #stream channel is limited to now to this tier and up, and it will work as a hotline to chat with us during a stream. Perhaps even through VOIP. This benefit's usefulness will be looked into whenever we get the goddamn fiber here.

These changes come with the recent, necessary change of turning Project L into per month payment, with the incentive to produce more videos and more content with less need to be all in; to have a good reason to post more stuff without worrying about one big project.

Please let me know do you think of the change. I'm kindly asking you all to be honest and to let me know if something is not right. These things are not set in stone, and I'm very open to new ideas and even reversing decisions, if I'm going to the wrong way.

Project L would not exist without you, my dear Patrons.

I think on your part it was the right decision and don't be so self-critical and don't consider yourself "a greedy bastard", I'm sure all the changes will be for the better

I'm not gonna repeat everything I already wrote on Discord. But it will be interesting to see how this will affect the distribution of patrons across the tiers - not that I could actually see this, but the current numbers are in the title photo of this post ;)
