I've seen a lot of discussion on the F95zone forums on the apparent ethnic background and appearance of the female characters in light of my life. Some of it was real nasty - and admirably dealt with by the forum members - but overall people were kind and nice and really passionate about what they liked more, or not so much, about them.

So, in order to make it clear once and for all, I'd like to make it canon, here and now.

The ethnic background of the female characters of Light of my Life is... whatever you feel it should be... <sound of crickets>

Bear with me, this is not a cop-out. Sure, as the author, when I first created them I had a certain background and heritage in mind, but as I've stated on several occasions, the author is dead! So, none of that matters one bit.

In truth, I'm trilled to see the argument for them being Latina, Native American, Indian, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, Central Asian, or anything else. I believe that in many cases, the argument comes as much from wanting them to have that background as from tangible evidence.

Coupled with the ability to name them whatever you want, your interpretation of their background can be reinforced even more (and the confirmation of any particular background that doesn't match that would jar equally so). Therefore, I will do my best to make sure no-one can ever lift a quote or hint from the game to definitively settle this argument.

Your Meena will never say "Dios mio" out of the blue.
