Cristina

It was supposed to be a quiet beach day.

Cristina and Leo had driven out early to their favorite hidden cove, the one with smooth sand, almost no tourists, and plenty of sun. Cristina, her usual petite and energetic self, had packed a cooler full of snacks, sunscreen, and a new energy drink she'd picked up on a whim at the gas station: "Jurassicaide – Unleash Your Inner Predator."

Leo had chuckled when she pulled it out. “You really gonna drink something with a dinosaur on the label?”

Cristina winked at him. “Why not? I could use a little... rawr today.”

She popped the tab, took a long sip, and immediately winced. “Tastes like mango... and danger.”

For the next half hour, nothing seemed unusual. Cristina was lounging on her towel, reading, occasionally tossing glances at Leo while he napped under the sun. But then, Leo noticed something weird, her swimsuit straps looked tighter. Her limbs seemed... longer. Her back arched oddly, like something was pressing out from under her skin.

He sat up. “Cristi… are you okay?”

She blinked slowly, turning toward him. Her eyes had changed, slitted pupils, with a golden glow. Her skin was hardening into glistening teal scales. With each second, she grew, her body elongating, her spine pushing outward into a vibrant orange sail that caught the sun like stained glass.

Her voice was deeper now, sultry, confident, with a hint of something primal. “I told you I could use a little rawr, didn’t I?”

Leo stumbled back, awestruck. The petite girl he knew had become a towering anthro spinosaurus—a curvy titaness of muscle, power, and sharp teeth, all wrapped in a dark bikini that somehow hadn't ripped. Yet.

Cristina, or whatever this deliciously evolved version was, crawled toward him on all fours, her claws pressing gently into the sand beside his hips. Her long, serpentine tail curled behind her like a predator at rest. She leaned in, close enough for her now saurian snout to hover inches from his face.

She purred. “Still think the drink was a bad idea?”

Leo gulped, unsure whether to run or kiss her.

Her clawed hand gripped his jaw tenderly. “You always liked strong women, right? Well…” Her grin widened, flashing rows of predator teeth. “I am the apex now.”

From the cooler, the half-empty can of Jurassicaide fizzed ominously. The warning label had been tiny, almost unreadable: “May cause extreme physiological awakening. Do not consume if human.”

Too late for that now.

Leo’s beach day just got very interesting.
