Obsidian was teased way the fuck back in season 2 when they re-enacted William Dewey’s historic voyage. They describe a giant many-armed woman fighting off the kraken, and carrying his ship to safety. At the time it seemed like they were just referring to Alexandrite, but it’s reasonable to assume that was all 4 of them!

2023-09-13 18:03:10 +0000 UTCWhen we have shit like Attack On Titan with its ACTUALLY garbage ending, I have little patience for griping about the SU finale. Yes it’s irrefutable that they were originally planning to flesh this plotline out a lot more. We could’ve gotten more development for home world gems, diamonds and fusions, but given the time allotted this was an absolutely BONKERS ending that not only fits with the themes we’ve seen since day 1, but makes a lot of episodes feel completely different when rewatching now that we know precisely what would happen if Steven became separated from his gem. My point is this finale, despite being rushed, is still one of the most satisfying conclusions I’ve ever seen for a TV show, let alone animation.
