NMGMS 02 - First Game

Tony Stark existed in this world!

After discovering this, Alex quickly ran to his computer and began researching it, and was shocked by what he found.

{New York, USA — The world watched in disbelief and terror as the sky above Manhattan tore apart and an alien fleet invaded the city through a giant portal. The armed forces were unable to contain the initial enemy advances. Tanks were overturned like toys, helicopters shot down in mid-flight...}

This was a full report on the battle of New York, describing in detail the Chitauri invasion from the perspective of the people of that world.

Looking at the date on his computer, Alex finally realized that he was in 2015!

Honestly, at that moment, he just wanted to search if Ultron had already appeared, but considering how paranoid Shield was, he only searched for general news from 2015 and nothing about Ultron or Sokovia came up, making him sigh in relief.

“Okay, so I'm between the Avengers 1 and Avengers 2 movies, with Ultron likely to appear at any moment,” Alex thought.

Since he didn't live in Sokovia, this was a relief for him, but then another question arose.

“Could I do something about this?” he thought.

Honestly, if he were just a normal person, Alex wouldn't even worry about something as big as the emergence of one of the Avengers' greatest villains, since he couldn't do anything to help, but was he really just an ordinary person?

From the memories he had received, yes.

But from what he had learned from the System he had received from the unknown entity, Alex could cease to be an ordinary person in a short time.

Every person who played the games he made would earn Gaming Points for him, GP that could be exchanged for magical items, knowledge, or even powers from other worlds to make him more powerful.

So he wouldn't be an ordinary person for long.

But that raised another question.

“Do I want to be a hero?” Alex thought, confused.

Alex never considered himself a good person, someone who would go without food so that someone else wouldn't go hungry. But if he had extra food, he didn't mind sharing it with those in need.

And knowing that hundreds, or even thousands of people would die if everything went right, left a bad taste in Alex's mouth.

“And that's assuming everything goes right, but what if I'm in a reality where Ultron wins? If I had the power to do something about it, wouldn't the responsibility for the huge mess that would happen be indirectly mine?” Alex thought, frustrated.

Having decided that if he had the power to help, he would, Alex shifted his focus to something else.

On his computer desktop was a new icon.

[Game Maker]

Besides having the exact same name as the game he had been playing last night, when Alex opened this new program, he found himself in an interface very similar to that game!

Here he could define the concepts of the games, the details of each game's preparation, and Game Maker would do everything else the way Alex commanded, as if he had a team of virtual developers on his computer!

Unfortunately, his save had been reset and he was back to being an indie developer in the game as well.

“Will the games I make in this game be brought into the real world?” Alex asked himself aloud, but no answer came.

Exploring this new application, Alex saw that he had a total of 5,000 GP available to make his first game, the same initial amount he had in the game from the other world.

That was just enough to make a simple indie game to get more GP and make better games in the future.

But as he explored the store, Alex saw the price of the things he could redeem for the real world with GP and was shocked.

The list was huge, easily having millions of items from many different worlds.

But just like the large number of items available, the price variation of each item was also very large.

-- Night Vision - 500 GP

Ability to see in the dark.

-- Hanzo's Enhanced Aim - 2,000 GP

Ability to shoot with deadly accuracy, eliminating enemies with a single well-aimed shot.

– Harry Potter's Lumos Spell - 3,000 GP

Basic magic that creates light at the tip of the wand, allowing you to see in dark environments. Essential for beginners in magic.

– Hermione Granger's Wingardium Leviosa Spell - 7,000 GP

Magic to levitate and move light objects a short distance, used for simple tasks or solving everyday problems.

– Magic Wand - 10,000 GP

A magic wand made by Garrick Olivaras that fits the user perfectly.

– Logan's Regeneration - 30,000 GP

Rapid healing of injuries, from superficial cuts to broken bones, but weakened due to age.

– Roy Mustang's Pyrokinesis Gloves - 70,000 GP

Gloves with transmutation circles to manipulate oxygen in the air and create precise explosions with a snap of the fingers. Extremely effective against multiple enemies or flammable targets, with precise control of the flames.

Does not work well in heavy rain, but is devastating in dry conditions.

This store became more and more shocking and powerful the more Alex read, ranging from items that increased his strength by 10 kg for 100 GP, to Uchiha Madara's own Sharingans.

Seeing how much he could get in this store made Alex even more excited to make his first game.

“Should I test this store?” Alex wondered curiously.

In this world, he had the standard body of a young adult who didn't exercise but also didn't overeat.

He only had the basic muscles a body needs to survive normally.

Looking for something heavy around the apartment, Alex found a set of dumbbells he had bought in the past to train with and felt their weight.

As he redid exercises he knew, the ideal weight for Alex's workout was 15 kg in each arm.

Any more than that and he was already shaking with the movement, any less and it seemed useless. It was the weight that forced his muscles enough to feel like he was training, but not to the point of injury.

“Right... that will serve as a benchmark,” Alex commented.

He then returned to the computer screen, reopened the GP store, and searched for the first physical improvement listed:

- Physical Strength Increase +10 kg - 100 GP

Improves your muscle strength enough so that you can lift 10 kg more with comfort and efficiency. Works in a balanced way throughout the body.

Without hesitation, Alex clicked “Buy.”

Immediately, a strange sensation ran through his body. It was as if an invisible energy had squeezed his muscles from within, warming every fiber, like an intense workout compressed into a second.

It wasn't painful, but it wasn't comfortable either.

When it was over, he was panting, sweating slightly as if he had done ten bench presses in the blink of an eye.

“Wow...” Alex whispered, stretching his arms.

He walked back to the dumbbells and, hesitantly, adjusted the weight to 25 kg.

Then he grabbed the weights and lifted the bars.

What would have been very difficult for him before, Alex now managed to lift as if he were 10 kg lighter!

With surprise in his eyes, he did a series of movements that would have been impossible with that weight before.

Biceps, shoulders, even a squat with both dumbbells. The weight felt... natural.

“It really worked!” Alex smiled excitedly as he realized his progress.

He looked back at the GP store, a new idea forming in his mind.

If 100 GP could do that... how much of a change would there be after spending 10,000 GP? Or even 1,000,000 GP?!

“Calm down, Alex. Right now, you need to focus on the games you're going to develop. You only got this ‘job’ because of your potential as a game developer, and only by making games will you earn enough GP to become even stronger.” He told himself as he tried to calm down.

Remembering how he had developed his virtual company by playing [Game Maker] in the other world, Alex decided to follow a similar path.

For indie games he could develop, there was a long list he could follow that would attract a lot of public attention and bring a lot of fame to the company.

But Alex wanted something special.

If he just wanted fame and popularity, he could do something like Flappy Bird and let the game go viral worldwide, but that wasn't his mission.

The being that brought him into this world didn't bring him here just to become stronger, but also to bring the excitement of games to people.

Flappy Bird wouldn't bring any positive emotions, maybe just anger to the players.

So Alex needed a better game.

“Although there are good indie games that would provide great experiences for players, some of these games can be left for when I have more GP in the future, to make them even better experiences, so for now I can only think of one game...” Alex made up his mind.

“Undertale.”

– NunuNote –

I imagine you were expecting Minecraft as the first game, just like in the first version of this story? Honestly, I was planning on remaking Minecraft, but then I realized,

What's the point of rewriting a story if I'm just going to make it exactly the same as the original?

So the first game will be Undertale, and when Minecraft comes, get ready for a very different and more fun arc than it was in the first version.

You won't have to reread the same thing again! :)

Comments

I thought Undertale was more of a cult hit than a massive success, but I could be wrong.

hawkshe .

Thanks! I think "as if he were 10 kg lighter" should be the dumbbell.
