Greetings, fellow map enthusiasts!

This month we’re embarking on something truly special — Evolving Settlements — a theme that charts the growth of communities from their humble beginnings to bustling hubs of trade, culture, and conflict.

Throughout May, we’ll be creating fantasy towns and villages in various stages of development — from scattered fishing huts clinging to a riverbank, to fortified market towns bristling with towers and trade routes. It’s a chance to explore how places grow, change, and tell deeper stories through maps.

⚓ Behind the Scenes: The Birth of Ismouth

Our first settlement of the month is Ismouth, a coastal town nestled at the mouth of the River Isa. While the full town map isn’t quite ready, we couldn't resist giving you a sneak preview of what’s to come!

This evolving town will be revisited in multiple forms — as a remote fishing hamlet, a thriving port, and eventually a strategic regional power. Premium members will get access to the entire evolution — complete with map variations, lore, and map assets.

Centuries ago, Marek the Grey, a half-mad naval warlord, sailed up the River Isa with a flotilla of storm-battered ships. Claiming the rocky bluff as his own, he ordered a fortress carved into the sea stone itself. Legend says he planted his rusted trident into the cliff and vowed the harbour would never fall while “the Tooth still stands.” Locals say the trident still rests in the keep’s highest tower, humming when storms gather offshore...
