River of Fire - Battlemap

At the dawn of the Age of Iraldir, sainted Jorhan I ruled as High King of Iraldon.

Taking up his hammer, he smote the forces of darkness that had ravaged the lands of men, thus ending the Great Scourge and forcing the evil sorcerer Balthier Tarus to flee back to his fortress beyond the Icecrown Mountains.

Accompanied by his most trusted Griffon Knights, King Jorhan journeyed north to seek the unholy wizard in his fortress of black stone.

Balthier, so corrupted by dark magic, had grown to monstrous size, akin more to a mountain giant than a man of woman born. But with the blessings of the All Father, King Jorhan triumphed, casting his enemy from the snow covered peaks with such force it shattered the very roots of the mountain itself. And with that the body of Balthier Tarus passing from both sight and mind.

Of one hundred men that entered the dark spire, only one, the king himself, came out. 

Returning with news of his victory, he founded the Kingdom of Haven, a realm that would, from the ashes of war, unite all the lands of men north of the Great Desert.

Hi guys!

Here is the first map I have for you this month for our theme of the Simarillion. 

The lore of my own homebrew world, which I included above, is influenced by figure such as Morgoth from Tolkiens works particularly Dark Wizard Balthier  a key enemy in my Kingdom's foundational myth.

With this map I was exploring whether the remains of a being as powerful as Morgoth or Balthier could still effect the world around it and whether they might still be worshiped by evil cults, hence the small altar. 

If nothing else this map and its varients should create a pretty epic fight scene for your party!
