This is my Mindset

I want to share a bit of my current mindset with you.
Money
Many creators just want enough money to get by, and work solo or in a team of up to 3 people. If they make 90k a month, they won’t hire anybody else for the team. Their productivity level is about the same, no matter how much money they receive.
I have a different mindset: I believe that if I earn 30k a month, I can have 10 people working on the game. If I have 90k a month, I can have 30 people working on the game.
If I read the right books, and execute it properly, we can make every dime we earn as effective as possible.
Balance Immediate progress and long-term progress
We can invest our time in two manners:
A) Focus on short-term progress. Don’t have long-term projects. Don’t stop to repair anything.
B) Split some effort on the now, and plan some projects that are going to generate results only 12 months in the future.
You can’t see it, but we are reading books on marketing, management, and overall game development. We are studying and developing new tools to make our tasks easier in the long-run. We delete old projects and ideas that no longer work. Every day is an opportunity to rethink our processes and plans.
You can’t see the result immediately, you’ll only see the effects 12 months in the future. The only thing you’ll see is a dip in immediate productivity.
Over the last few months, we made many decisions that favor the long term over the short term.
If you are patient, you’re going to reap these rewards:
- Migration from Daz to Blender: Lots of learning and new tools.
- Hire and train people: Every recruit actually slows down the team for their first month. It takes a while until they become 100% effective.
- Translation Team: Seamlessly request and receive translations.
- Making our own environments: better quality than ready-made environments, but slower.
Julia’s changes
The script of the game has around 65k words. We changed only ~200 words (0.3%) because of Julia. So, 99.7% of the game is the same. And the changes only affect Episodes 1 and 2.
Steam
There is a formula to estimate the new revenue of Steam games, but I’m going to give you a shortcut.
For a game that costs U$15
- 500 reviews = $140,000
- 1,000 reviews = $280,000
- 2,000 reviews = $560,000
- 5,000 reviews = $1,400,000
- 10,000 reviews = $2,800,000
Now imagine if we could ship a new Season on Steam every year.
And imagine if we could convert some Steam users to our Patreon.
If you want us to hire more people and make the game faster, then Steam is the way!

Many people who purchase the regular edition on Steam may not support you as a patron. However, they may be willing to pay an additional fee as a form of support. That's why I asked the question.
