Announcing the death of a fellow team member

Dear friends,

I am saddened to announce that OctaneFX passed away on April 5. He was an important part of the FreshWomen team and will be greatly missed.

OctaneFX’s son notified us yesterday. We have expressed deepest sympathies and condolences on behalf of everyone from our team.

We worked together for 5 months, and communicated daily. Just last week, we had three one-on-one meetings to improve our creative process. He seemed fine and delivered amazing work that week. He worked with the outfits and scenery of the game.

He was in his fifties, but he had a young soul.

The last day I talked with him was on April 4, and he said he had back pain and cough, but said he would be better soon. Then, on April 5, April 6 and April 7, he didn’t answer any of my messages (we work remotely). I finally investigated his Facebook and found nothing. Then I went to his son’s Facebook, and at the moment I laid my eyes on the post announcing OctaneFX’s death, my hands started to shake and my heart beat faster. It can’t be. No. I cried. One day, he was doing fantastic work and giving a lot of ideas. The other day, he was no longer with us.

I talked with his son, and he said OctaneFX was very happy working with us. He was working with what he loved and was passionate about. His son expressed enormous gratitude that we recruited OctaneFX and cared for him.

I’m still processing what happened. Writing this post was really difficult for me. He had a personality that made him unique. He was a great father and a great person.

Kind Regards,

Oppai-Man

That is a terrible loss. It is not easy losing a friend. A friend of mine that was about 10 years younger than I am and I am 47 died from an aneurysm a few years ago. He was a great guy and everyone loved him. It does make you put into perspective your own mortality when someone dies that is close to you. My condolences to his family and to you and take as much time to grieve as possible.

It is terrible to hear such a sudden loss, he must mean a lot to you and every team member. Please take your time to sorrow and process your emotions. We are all human beings, this is acceptable to be upset and down, especially for someone dear to us.

On the bright side for my case, I've got terrible luck, so I'll probably live 30 more years in a greatly deminished self. lol. Just remember for real guys, we are all mortal and every day could be the last so leave as few regrets as possible. Thats the only wisdom I can figure, and getting old ain't for sissies.

I'm sorry to hear that. I think these last two years, we've all heard it far too many times. I'm also in my 50's and I have known for a while that I'm not long for this world. I've never found a way to tell my family (im single/no kids) I have both parents and sister and brother. They all think covid is going to get me anyhow (I smoke , and I also toke, lol) I live with an older Uncle and I think he suspects whats up. The waiting and knowing kinda sucks so I figure why should I tell so every day they wake wondering if I did. Maybe Im wrong or maybe I'm chicken cause if I say it that makes it real.
