Witches' Thralls - Chapter 13

The streets between the houses of cobble and wood were eerily quiet, the snow on the ground lying virtually undisturbed, with any perceivable imperfections in its glistening coat being slowly covered up by the fresh powder drifting down from the sky. The only evidence of the small town’s occupants was the occasional cautious face peering out from behind frosted glass and curtain, all guarded and fleeting, as if the entire settlement was on edge upon detecting the travelers’ presence.
Nidrah seemed to have picked up on that feeling, as well. “Stay in the wagon, keskira,” she ordered, pulling the wagon to a stop in front of a relatively large building near the town’s center. “Something is not right.”
It's finally here!
Apologies for the long-ass wait on this one; as mentioned in the reports, I've been drafting quite a ways ahead in an effort to ensure that I liked the pacing and structure of Act 2's opening. To that end, expect the next few chapters to release at a relatively quick pace now that I've cleared the hurdle!
This also means public chapters should be resuming in the near-ish future as well, including all those fun annotations I add in that presently-ultimate pass. So look forward to those, if you're the kind of nerd who digs the language notes and such. In the meantime, enjoy a little more of the Nidrah timeline, and some light knowledge about demons and mushrooms!
