This was another in my "oh, crap, cons are back!" scramble to create new art to sell at shows, and by far it was the most last-minute. Last Thursday, the day before I was set to leave for the show, it occurred to me that I didn't have anything of the Internet's new favorite giant steppy monster mommy, AKA Lady Dimitrescu from Resident Evil VIII. That just seemed like leaving money on the table, so I decided to do something real quick.
And I'll admit, it's definitely on the "simple" side of my prints. I generally like to say something with my art, even if it's just a dumb joke or to invoke a certain feeling; and a small part of me feels a little guilty about the blatant cash-grabby-ness of this one, but I rationalized it as still having more effort than.... certain fanart I'm sure we've all seen at bigger cons that's just head-on head shots of a hundred different characters with clearly reused drag-and-drop assets. At least I actually drew this one myself! *ahem* And considering the rushed nature of it, I'm actually rather pleased with how it turned out. The choice to use a blue tented color palette is more "artsy-fartsy color theory" that I typically go for, the background is simple yet stylish and effective IMO, and the blood splatter was a last minute inspiration that I think really ties the whole thing together.
I'm actually writing this post the Friday before the show and scheduling it to go up on Monday, so I have no idea how well it will do. Fingers crossed it appeals to some of the pathetic little man-things out there!
