Progress Report

Hello!

This progress report is a bit late because I only accomplished the goal I wanted to achieve this very afternoon. Before that, all I had to say was, 'I'm writing!' and that, as much as I like saying it, makes for a poor post.

Anyway, I finished the first version of the Vallen get-together! I like it soooo much!!!!! But it wasn't without its challenges.

When I reached a crucial moment of the first draft, the text just... didn't feel how I wanted it to. This was the moment I made that vague Tumblr post about, so it's the scene of this update for me, and it wasn't right.

I kept rewriting and reworking it, and finally, I closed Word, went to a local coffee shop with my notebook and pencil, and finally got it. I had to throw away around 2k words, but it was worth it. I think I nailed Vallen. I really did. 😄

Anyhoo, this took me longer than I'd planned because, well... I don't want to spoil anything, but I had to write 3 different versions of the crucial scene, depending on your stats, and within those versions, two different sub-versions according to your Corruption number and, of course, 5 varions each...

It got to a lot.

What was straightforward in the first draft — because I only wrote one variation of one subversion of a version — was much more complicated now. The word count ballooned, and, of course, so did the hours I spent writing it.

But it's done!!!! That was the longest and most challenging part of the update.

Now, I'll write the other Vallen version. I already have an outline of it!!! But that's only after I finally dedicate a couple of days to the Bonus Content. I was so eager to finish this last part that I couldn't tear myself away from it. 😭

But tomorrow and Friday are for the extra content. I need a little break from the book anyway, to indulge in a little character and dialogue writing ❤

The goal for the week after this one is to be wholly done with Vallen so I can go forward with the rest of the update. I have another secret goal in mind, but I don't want to jinx it, so I'll only share this one!
