Added 2024-02-15 17:27:23 +0000 UTCIn honor of the late Valentine's Day, what would be the perfect gift for your Romanus to receive from their RO? What item, or gesture would mean the most? You can imagine the RO in question knows some — or most — of your Romanus' backstory if that helps. 😊
In that same vein, what would your Romanus give their RO (or ROs)? What do you think they'd appreciate more? A gift or a gesture? An adventure or a quiet afternoon spent alone? A kiss or a promise?
Do tell.🌹

I just thought of that but for Neia I think my Romanus would just paper her, you know? Like breakfast in bed, a nice warm relaxing bath, a massage, going out on a nice long hike. Just taking care of the spectre and showering her in love. I think that would be nice

2024-03-02 02:49:45 +0000 UTCI think some things have already been mentioned for what I think my Romanus' would like or give in return, so in regards to what has not been stated already My reason Romanus has the farmer background and has interests in literature/ architecture/ the arts/ things of beauty, but also can appreciate the simpler things coming from a humble background. She probably would be excited with whatever she's given as long as long as it's considerate. Flowers? shes never been gifted that before; she'll smile like a dope and hold onto them for the longest before they eventually wither and then suddenly Billy has a luscious mane of garland hair. A trip to an unknown destination? Appeals to her natural appetite for knowledge and the forbidden. Her playthroughs are with Hadrian or Alain so I could see her trying to utilize their backgrounds and history to try and do or give something in relation to what she learns about them, their interests or things relating to their home growing up. For Hadrian possibly learning more about the church and it's history (from a scholarly stand point at least) maybe talks of visiting religious locations of note. For Alain I could see her trying to start a series of drawings of the birds they came across together noting the details of the moment the birds were sighted and little notes of Alain's excitement levels. My pious Romanus is interested in Neia or Rafael so with both she's the type of person to try and do things to make their life easier. An act of service type of person who just wants to help others in general as an extension of her love and being, which can be overbearing so if they even put up with that is a gift in itself. She'd also reason that those two in particular are the type that need it anyways. That being said she still has the hunter background and can't help but also like shiny new weapons. That or something sentimental no matter the condition or item, something to help decorate the space she's come to make for herself in an attempt of stability. Doing something nice for others, especially others she cares about, would make her heart melt too. The ultimate gift for her I think would just be a promise of a future which I think she would hold onto desperately no matter how fleeting promises can be. My combat Romanus also has a hunter background so he's kind of practical and not very materialistic. Even he can't deny some of life's simple pleasures though- hot baths with a nice drink, hearty meals, sturdy leathers/furs, and woodcraft. He's also one for armor and weapons but I think the ultimate gifts he would want are some he wouldn't be conscious of due to the sentimentality of it. I can see him being nostalgic for bear fur as morbid as that sounds, I feel like bear fur items, or even a bear rug, would be one of the few extravagances he would be drawn towards only to treat it like a blanket or mattress as a poor substitute for the real thing if he ever got his hands on some. His first play through will be with Ysabella and I noticed a reoccurring theme of her scenarios showing Romanus' admiration towards her hair (and her whole being lol) and it made me think of my Romanus gaining a habit of absently twirling a curl around his finger when lost in thought around her! I think his association with her and her hair would be so entwined that for him the best thing she could ever give him would be something he would secretly make himself. Without her knowledge, perhaps, he would take the strands of her hair leftover from her brush and collect enough to eventually just start braiding it into a bracelet that he wouldn't even wear- just keep to himself because what's more of a gift from someone than an actual part of that person? He is also an act of service person so I think for Ysabella he'd do his best to do something that would help her goals or even just be an accomplice in getting her a temporary escape from the burdens of her life. On the opposite side my gold loving influence Romanus is shamelessly materialistic and with her merchant background she appreciates quality or something rare. Though she's not always about the expense of things, she would like anything flashy given to her, a medallioned belt? brightly dyed scarves and frilly shirts and skirts? It would mean so much to her even if she can't wear it due to her actively subduing herself outwardly since being on the run. It's not a surprise that draws her towards the peacocks of the cast -Lance and TPK -but fortunately her big personality can't be contained the same way for better or worse. Ironically I think her gifts to them wouldn't even be items. Her approach would probably be learning about their craft/trade as a way to relate to them, what it takes to sea-fare (while trying to control her fear of water during those moments) or perform songs. Being a natural storyteller I could see her weaving a tale for them- a continuous story mixing tales and reality of things and situations they've never been in, have been in, or want be in. It would star suspiciously familiar protagonists and she won't end it, not because she wants to keep them in suspense, but because she's not good at ending stories.

2024-02-16 18:51:45 +0000 UTCHaeston would appreciate quality time the most. Low pressure time of just being with Alessa, maybe at a beach or the woods. If it was an item then something practical, more knives, sharpening tools, or some slightly better than average travel rations. He'd probably try to get her something practical and something he'd think she would find beautiful. Something he saw that made him think of her. Mattias would be far more concerned with what to get Hadrian than with receiving gifts. He'd want to get something that would keep Hadrian safe, or something that would give him strength, emotional support to get through the challenges they'd face. He would probably over think it and be surprised to be gotten anything. He would appreciate some quality time and signs of effort. Like a nice picnic set up just for the two of them. Or a nice meal procured of things he likes and evening in. Some good books, or a new journal would be appreciated as well. And depending on the phase of their relationship, maybe a new glove. Jamie would like an evening out with Alain, probably in a fairly average tavern, drinks and dancing. Low pressure, low stakes. Also something nice to wear to feel attractive and appreciated. And then more private time alone after. As for what Jamie would get Alain. If early in the relationship they would probably overthink things, then either panic and get something that could be laughed off or chicken out at the last moment and just offer themself as the gift instead. If a bit settled they might call upon Ysabella for help. If later in the relationship they'd probably offer truths or a favor as a sign of trust.

2024-02-16 04:05:26 +0000 UTCI think for my Romanus, what she most likes to receive are gifts that have a meaning to the giver. Objects that have a history to them. And anything she receives, be it the smallest bauble, she would cherish it SO much and take such good care of it. For example, if Hadrian were to give her a cross, she would wear it always, even though she’s not religious in the least, because it’s something that means so much to him, and therefore it would become one of her most treasured possessions. As for giving, she’s never been in a relationship and is trying to figure out how to act. Words aren’t the easiest for her either sometimes, so she kind of defaults to touch to express her affection. If she were to give actual gifts, she’d probably try to give something that’s meaningful to her, since that’s what she enjoys receiving. I imagine that at some point she’d try to give the ruler she has from Adso or something that belonged to her mom, and Hadrian would try to give it back once he realizes what it means to her haha

2024-02-16 02:36:56 +0000 UTCItem wise, a well made leather glove to replace the old tattered one they currently have, is probably something they’d appreciate though depends on what the RO knows about the mark. If they don’t know anything about the mark yet it’ll probably make my MC more wary and skittish than anything else. Because while it shows the RO cares enough to pay attention to and notice things about the MC it also shows the RO pays attention and notices things, things that my MC won’t be entirely happy with being noticed. At least they won’t be happy if they haven’t settled their feelings and chosen to share about the mark of their own volition yet. Gesture wise besides just spending time together but a specific gesture, I think the RO saying I love you or expressing some form of affection in Latin would probably be the most touching singular gesture they could do. Even if the RO gets a word wrong or pronounces stuff incorrectly it would be a very heartfelt way of showing that they care. As for what they’d give the RO hmmm, probably time; not plain normal time but actual quality time where they are attentive, caring and genuine in way they avoid normally. If normally they tend to not be very serious and avoid real emotions or simply deflect them away with humor, sarcasm or mockery, then if only for today they wouldn’t do that. They might still make a few jokes here and there but they would be present and genuine and sincere in way they wouldn’t do for anyone else because that’s the most honest and heartfelt way they can express their affection.

2024-02-16 00:50:15 +0000 UTCFor my Romanus, their RO simply being with them to enjoy the day would be enough. But as that seems to be given... A book on a topic she is interested in, or a dessert she enjoys. On what she would give the RO depends on the RO. For Hadrian, she would either make him a shawl or buy him a cross necklace. And then prepare a special dinner for the two of them to enjoy. For Alain, she would do the same. Make him a shawl and buy him an accessory. But instead of a cross necklace, she would get him a brooch, or some kind of accessory she thinks a noble would enjoy. Probably overspend, trying to get something that is the quality he would be accustomed to. With both of them she would hesitate giving the shawl, not thinking it good enough for them. But she would be closest to not giving it to Alain. She is rather insecure of her handicrafts, and seeing Alain's fancy garb would convince her that whatever she makes wouldn't be good enough. Apologies if this is written a bit unclear. I have had this general idea of my Romanus, but to write out what were initially just some loose thoughts I had about her from time to time, has proven more difficult than anticipated...

2024-02-15 21:10:04 +0000 UTCFor my Romanus prime who is with Alessa I can think of two things: 1. A new glove would be nice. 2. Or spending the day together, prepping weapons, armor, and everything else that needs doing in the morning so they have nothing to worry about later and just drink, go for walks, maybe cook. Just spend time with her.

2024-02-15 19:43:41 +0000 UTCI think my mc Leon would be happy to recieve anything from the ro's. He'd treasure a rock if it were to be given to him as a gift. As for Leon I'd like to think he'd plan an elaborate date and shower his partner with gifts, only to end the night sitting underneath the stars with his ro. He'd be sharing stories about his childhood and listening to his ro's stories in return. Being honest and vulnerable with someone is the greatest gift he could give and recieve.

2024-02-15 19:39:40 +0000 UTCFor Marek, i think he'd enjoy a nice picnic or walk with Alessa or Ysabella. What he does doesn't matter so much as him being able to spend some quality time with them. For giving gifts, he'd scrounge up as money as he can to get Alessa a really nice ring or perhaps an earring. I do headcanon him as being a really good cook so he'd probably also make a really sweet cake for Alessa. For Ysabella, she seems like the kinda girl who'd enjoy sappy romance novels or poems so he'd either buy or write a bunch for her and present them in the fanciest envelope he can get with all the sweet and fancy embellishments.

2024-02-15 18:54:39 +0000 UTCI think neither of my Romanuses is the type to keep up with holidays like that. They would appreciate the time spent together above all else (your time is, after all, the most precious gift you can give someone). As for what they would give: The first one is romancing Ysabella, and would probably plan something very whimsical, to whisk her away on an adventure. Maybe something like a treasure hunt with hidden clues, or secretly stealing her away from the castle for a day outside. He would probably stage it all very dramatically for her. It would definitely end with the two of them in bed (maybe Bella's "reward" for completing the treasure hunt is somehow related to that gshbrbh). The second one is romancing Hadrian, and would go for something much more humble yet also more personal. He'd probably make something with his hands, maybe some homey food or some wood-carved token, maybe even a new cross! And he would just take Hadrian on a quiet, relaxing little date, maybe a picnic. It would also definitely end with the two of them doing things, but maybe in nature instead of in bed.

2024-02-15 18:45:57 +0000 UTCI have one Romanus who (even before the book 2 demo) I headcanoned as being more artistic so they are always carrying around a journal/sketchbook dedicated to drawings. So perhaps a quality journal or pen of some sort. This Romanus I have romancing Alessa so I think they'd be inclined to maybe drawing a small portrait of Alessa or even finding a jewellery maker to craft her a small ring. My other Romanus is pretty open to any sort of gift rather objects or quality time. They are a fan of reading stories so maybe a novel (even better if their RO reads it to them). This Romanus is romancing Hadrian and the Pirate King so for Hadrian, (unsure if this is practical with his line of work) but maybe a set of rosary beads? Something to keep his hands moving as it seems he's always rubbing his cross whenever he's anxious. And for the Pirate King? Probably just quality time? It feels like he has just about everything he needs so maybe setting up an evening of romance? Finding an alcove somewhere along a coast and...well....y'know. Haha.

2024-02-15 18:36:18 +0000 UTCIf we’re going off the fact the Alessa knows some of if not most of Romanus’ backstory, I think Romanus would adore a little wood carving of a bear, even though it’s not something Romanus knows he wants. Romanus would try and have a day alone with Alessa, somewhere she feels like she can let her guard down. He would also gift her a nice necklace or set of knives

2024-02-15 18:11:54 +0000 UTCI can answer for my main two: Anders Romanus is romancing Alessa and he wouldn't want a material gift. Having the merchant background, frequent exposure to those types of baubles have made him lose interest. Instead, he'd love for her to take him to a scenic locale where they could marvel at nature's beauty and perhaps enjoy some delicious treat or meal together. The scene in the marketplace on the rooftop in Book 1 is actually a great example of his perfect date, he would love to see the whole world with her if he could. As for his gift to her, he'd be paying close attention to any sweets or jewelry that Alessa was interested in, and purchase it for her. Artesia Romanus is romancing Hadrian and her perfect gift is simple, a bible. I imagine Julianna never let her keep one because of her mistrust of the church, but now Artesia wishes to be closer to the lord, and by extension closer to Hadrian through their shared faith. I think he'd stump her when it came to gift ideas. Hadrian strikes me as the kinda guy who if asked what he'd like for christmas would say "You don't have to get me anything." But she'd probably settle on a new chain for his cross. The cross itself being older and weathered might mean it has sentimental value to Hadrian so she wouldn't want to replace it outright, but helping keep it maintained would be perfect.

2024-02-15 18:10:01 +0000 UTCI think if my Romanus would have prepared for something for Valentines Day, it would start at dawn sitting atop the coast looking down at the ocean and reading some story or poetry written by himself, while the listener enjoys herself to a sweet treat, but before Romanus can finish the paper is rip out of his hand by some small creature (or street rat) who leads the two of them one a day long chase throughout the whole city. All the while he enjoys himself by teasing and flirting with his partner even when running after the mysterious person. And at the end the two end up atop the cliffs again but with the paper-thief cornered and after a short interrogation a dinner for two is suddenly found and the day ends as it began. What he would like to receive? If asked, nothing, the company is gift enough, but I think he would love a gift that has a personal connection to the two of them. And if he is supposed to really excited: an unknown text in Latin would do the trick, no matter how long. But neither is particularly realistic, but nevertheless.

2024-02-15 18:07:44 +0000 UTCI think, physical gifts-wise, my Romanus would appreciate anything, but if she has to choose a specific gift, I think she would like a wearable accessory or pendant from ROs. You know, something she can easily carry with her by putting in her pocket/bag or just by wearing. Something to remember them or remind herself their presence when she needs a comfort, to calm herself down in a situation where she’s alone. As long as ROs express their love through acts of service and words of affirmation, my Romanus is literally okay with anything. No special dates or events. As long as ROs firmly show their love to her. :)

2024-02-15 17:46:50 +0000 UTCAs for my Alexandria Lexi Romanus: her RO is Hadrian . I'm not sure exactly what she would want. She's pretty simple to please. But I think the most meaningful gift to her would be to know Hadrian loves her , since she's never felt truly loved and just a promise to be there for her for the rest of their lives despite the uncertainties of their life. She just wants a steadfast partner and just wants to know if he can be her lifelong partner. Maybe a simple um engagement ring? XD she has a romantic side and would love to marry Hadrian. But she would never want to do anything to make Hadrian uncomfortable. She knows Hadrian is hesitant about marriage so she never pushes it. But she would love to be married to the man she loves. She doesn't let her vulnerable side show but she loves Hadrian and his unwavering faith and his ever calming presence by her side. As for Catarina Romanus my other Romanus who is romancing Lance: she fell in love with her bard not for his musical talents, not for his many faces, but for the man underneath all that. She loves to write poetry but she never shows it to anyone. She's a quiet companion. I think if Lance were to find a poem of hers and sing it to her as a song he composed from her words and his music I think that would mean the world to her. As for what Lexi would give Hadrian: a cross necklace. A new cross necklace with their initials engraved on the back. She knows how important his faith is to him and she also shares the same faith. So L+H (Lexi and Hadrian.) It would be her way of showing how much she loves and appreciates Hadrian and how special he is to her. As for Catarina as to what she could give Lance:she couldn't offer much but she'd write a poem for him. Shyly and bumbling over her own words but she would write it tailored especially for Lance. Maybe on a quiet warm eve in the quiet of their favorite meadow or by the quiet of the stream. She would pore her heart into this poem to let Lance know how much she loves him.

2024-02-15 17:40:54 +0000 UTCReceive? Fausta would be a cross, a bible or a ring 👀👀 hadrian! Give? Something hand made, maybe a new wooden cross necklace she'd carved herself or, using her upbringing, drawing a beautiful script of a Bible verse for hadrian that she feels reflects something positive about him. For Diago he'd like to receive unmentionable things, however something that would get to him is if alessa pierced his ear with one of her own earrings, leaving him the earring that would 😍💕💞 his stupid, vapid heart. As for give to alessa, if he could he'd give her sweet treats every day to watch the way she lights up, but he'd also pay everything he had to get a jeweler to make her silver jewellery (earrings and a matching necklace perhaps) with stones that match her eyes.

2024-02-15 17:38:10 +0000 UTCI think quality time is important even if it's just watching a sunset but I think thats my romantic talking so idk maybe something to remind them of their mom like maybe a favorite food she would make or something

2024-02-15 17:38:10 +0000 UTCI think my Romanus would love some quality time spend together. Just her and hadrian enjoying a nice, worry-free day together. I think she would give hadrian some new shirt that do not have holes in them ;) and other than that maybe go to church with him? She's not religious but she can suffer for hadrian if it means he gets some peace of mind

2024-02-15 17:33:12 +0000 UTCI think my Romanus would most appreciate quality time, especially a fun little adventure. She also loves being where the people are, and thrives in hustle and bustle. So for Alessa (knowing that isn’t her scene) to do something with her along those lines, would mean a lot. And of course, she’d return the favor and make sure they have some quiet alone time too. And if she bought Alessa something, I’d probably be a piece of jewelry that she spent forever picking out, stressing over, and trying to find. But will pretend it was no big deal

2024-02-15 17:32:47 +0000 UTCMy Damien (snarky, sassy, not very pious, but still very mercyful) would love to simply be held in Hadrian's arms, told that he was loved and none of it was his fault. He is very weak for forehead kisses. In return, he'd join Hadrian in his morning prayers, not necessarily praying himself, but kneeling down, feeling the peace and quiet, the connection to whatever powers look down on the universe. He might make some prayers of his own, not necessarily in that moment, but probably made in the evening when he thinks Hadrian is already asleep (but probably isn't). Whispers and promises of love, of adoration, of faithfulness. The promise to always be by his knight's side, in whatever way he needed. Damien can be very sappy, hidden deep behind his built up wall of sarcasm and flirtyness, so it is rare for others, even Hadrian, to witness such serious moments.

2024-02-15 17:32:46 +0000 UTCWhat gift would my Romanus like to receive? Probably some new traveling boots. I doubt his feet feel good being in those cruddy ass boots for years. What gift would my Romanus give? Specifically to Alessa, probably a ‘date’ on the water and a nice piece of jewelry that he defiantly didn’t steal.
