Progress Report

I'm back!!!!

And I've been coding the whole afternoon. I can't quite explain why, but putting all those labels and gotos and stats percentages changes has been oddly... therapeutic. ๐Ÿ˜Š I've also realized I forgot to write a small set of reactions from Lance and Mist based on whether or not you have the balm on your face. So, I'll need to add in that little interaction.

Other than that, the coding has been going smoothly! I love watching the file grow and grow, and update both the Summary and the relationship/stat pages as I go. Writing in the notebook and writing into Word is one thing, but when you actually see the story come to life and watch the program run it and report back zero bugs and errors... It's a different feeling. It's a good feeling.

I'm sorry for not posting sooner โ€” I got back from my vacation on Wednesday but in the early hours of that day, at 3 AM, I turned in bed and got a severe episode of what's called Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, or BPPV in short.

I don't know if any of you have ever experienced it - I sincerely hope that you haven't and never will - but words can't describe what it feels like. I've broken bones, I've hit my head at the bottom of a pool, I've had surgery on my abdomen, I've had dangerously high fevers, extremely severe cases of flu, I was even momentary blind in my left eye last week when a wave hit me so hard on the face that it gave me an ocular concussion โ€” but none of that comes even remotely close to the agony that is BPPV.

Luckily, I was able to go to the nearest ER right away and after 10 excruciating hours, I was finally seen by a team of ENT specialists that performed the BPPV maneuver that mechanically sets the calcium crystals of my inner ear back to the place they never should have left. I immediately felt better and have been getting better and better ever since.

It seems I only have bad news to share lately. I'm sorry for being a downer! I just hate to be inactive without any explanation whatsoever (โ•ฅ_โ•ฅ). But, like I said, today I woke up feeling almost like myself again, and I began to code! On the weekend, I'm going to go shopping for a new writing laptop - probably on Sunday, because the doctors warned me that the crystals take a few days to settle into their membrane, so I can relapse if I move my head too much.

Tomorrow, I'll code again! And that's the goal for next week - code and code so I can finish the chapter! I also want to put into Word the snippets I wrote for the Patreon content this month and use the rest of August to work on the Rose as if it's my full-time job.

I hope you're having an amazing month. If you're on vacation, make the most of it! I loved mine, even if it ended on a sour note, but I feel recharged and ready. If you're not on break or vacation, enjoy the weekend to take a deep, calming breath.

See you all soon. I'll start to regularly post content again. ๐ŸŒน

Talk about an eventful end to your holiday! At least it didn't happen during it I guess... Still very sorry you had to go through this, it sounds awful. Plenty of rest for you, take care of yourself ๐Ÿ˜Š

Lauriane

Get well soon! And please, take your time and donโ€™t overwork yourself.

Lisa

Not sure what I had was worse, appendicitis sounds terrifying ๐Ÿ˜ฑ I'm so glad you're alright and I hope you're making a smooth recovery. That care of yourself too, Brendon!

I had my appendix burst about 5 days before I finally went to the hospital and that still sounds worse than what I went through. Hope you're doing well! Take your time and enjoy the process. Please make sure to eat well and drink plenty!

Oh sweetie I'm so so sorry you've had to deal with all this *hugs* I've had vertigo but I think it was a different type I think. I think I had a variant of BPPV. I think they called it vestibular vertigo. It was awful. I had it for about 2 weeks. They told me to keep doing the maneuvers to help reset the crystals everyday and they also did it in the clinic I was at. It was the weirdest way I triggered it. I was getting out of bed and titled my head way too far back and when I got up I was dizzy. But thought it was just a migraine. But the room felt like it was spinning and wouldn't stop. I was sweating and felt nauseous. It was awful. But I'm glad your feeling better and don't push yourself! Take care my friend! ~Nessy

Oh no Ana!!!! So sorry to hear that you had to contend with yet another challenge right off the bat, but I do hope at least that your vacation was full of rest and joy to make up for it even a little! Please always take care of you first, and I am wishing you a speedy recovery!
