Yep if I was and idol trainee with even a reasonable amount of talent and especially if I was confident in my personality and ability to command screen time. 100% I'm signing up for a survival show.

I like the song, I think it's fire and he sounds great + it doesn't feel forced. I don't know what market he's targeting but with this sound he could do a similar thing that both DPR Ian and Dean have excelled at which is straddling both Eastern and Western markets in that indie/alternative/R'n'B space. He's still so young at 18 that part of me wonders if taking on a much more mature image is partially motivated by wanting to separate himself completely from the k-pop image that more people were familiar with. A little bit like what most Disney stars seem to need to do after everyone is used to seeing them as a kid and they'll go super hard on more mature themes for a couple of years and then settle somewhere in the middle. I don't know him well enough to say this obviously could just be 100% who he is and what he wants to do but it will be interesting to see his trajectory if he makes music long-term.

I agree with what you said about artists participating in survival shows, I don't think winning is really that important in regards to them because of the ability to build a fanbase before any commitment to groups.

But yeah This is actually a banger tho. He did really good for his first release and def has my attention to look out for him. Hope it kicks off and goes well/last long for him.
