I haven't watched this in years. Never thought you'd react to this genre but it's great you're open to anything. Let me watch too because it's one of the best Korean BLs made. It had huge impact for KBLs

Semantic Error was originally a web novel. It's a really good drama, and I've been meaning to rewatch it. This was my first BL as well, and it did not disappoint.

Honestly I love how lighthearted this show is, there is bullying happening but it's literally just being mildly annoying lol. I relate to Sanwoo a lot, just being clueless in social settings. I'm pretty sure it took him a good moment to realize why Ji Hye was talking to him despite having multiple conversations with her

You should continue

Hey, nice surprise I hadn't thought you would check out a BL. I haven't watched your reaction yet but in the first couple of minutes you were talking about tropes so let me get my thoughts out before I forget. I don't want to pass my place too much when I talk about the representation of others but BL, as the name suggests is literally a sub genre of the romance category. So by its nature it is held to certain tropes since not every romance is a BL but every BL is a romance. No matter what happens the point is that the couple gets together 99.9% of the time. There are also some very specific tropes that tend to happen only in BL but I won't get too into that. You would have to watch a few and then you would see recurring themes. As far as how the genre is seen it's a mixed bag. There are definitely concerns over how unrealistic some boys love shows are but you could say the same thing about some romance kdramas or even Western romantic comedies but I think people who are looking for true queer representation would be able to speak more on what's missing from BL. There's also a people who think that this type of show is great because queer shows historically have had a lot of dark or sad themes so sometimes it's nice to have some happy, fluffy romance shows to even things out. BL in it's modern form is actually a very young genre, I would say realistically about 8-10 years old and truly exploded in popularity during the pandemic. So it's also still developing and in the last couple of years I think we are starting to get better, more realistic and representative shows. I think this is a good show for a first time watcher. It's short and if you've seen the first two episodes you get the gist. Sorry for yapping so much but I'll definitely be curious about your thoughts and come back to the actual episode later.

i know exactly what you mean about the good plot thing but i honestly do think that’s gotten better recently at least with thai bl’s. the eighth sense is also one of my favorite k-bls along with blueming.

sincerely, nai. ♥︎

i can’t watch this right now bcs i’m at work but best believe i’m tuning in as soon as i can !! i can’t believe you reacted to this omg !! i don’t know if you mentioned it in the video yet but both male leads are kpop idols ! this drama is so cute . 😭 i haven’t watched it in so long so it’ll be nice to see with you.

sincerely, nai. ♥︎

That was fun to watch with you. I haven't watched this since it came out!! I think this was classified as an Idol drama. Both of the main leads are from boy groups. The tall one from KNK, and the guy who plays Sangwoo is in another group, I can't remember the name of it.

BLs pretty much all have a very similar... formula? unfortunately, a lot of them focus more on hitting all the typical BL points & giving fan service than having a good quality plot. (at least from what i've seen, i haven't watched too many lately, so hopefully that's changed.) i'm also not a fan of the at times problematic fan culture surrounding them. this is one that i personally didn't like, but i know many people love it. 'the eighth sense' is one that i liked.

i feel like you would like GELBOYS, it has lots of cool fashion stuff in it specially nail art, and thai pop culture,,,,, a rlly good one and they filmed everything on a phone with some special lenses idk ohh and the osts are gooood. it even became a trend on twt where ppl edit their pics like the drama
