About the foot washing scene: “[Jesus] poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples' feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.” John 13:5 A few lines later: “Jesus answered, “Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you.” 11 For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not every one was clean.” There’s a ton of bible references throughout death note, I’m probably only catching a few, but this one i know for sure. L knows, he doesn’t have the definitive proof yet until he tests the notebook, but he knows he’s lost his life at this point. That doesn’t mean he’s lost the game though, he said he’s willing to put his life on the line to bring Kira to justice - will it work? No way L doesn’t have some kind of backup plan in the event of his death, right? 12 episodes....

I know vaguely what happens afterwards through secondhand talk but I have no idea how it ends. The scene in the rain/afterwards was definitely L knowing he was going to die and pleading one last time to Light, for what, I don't even know
