This is definitely amongst the most legendary theme songs of all time. You can find so many different versions of it as well classical, hip hop, rock lol I think most of the Lords and Ladies of the seven kingdoms grow up their whole lives believing that their marriage will be arranged for them. At the very least they run in circles with other Rich families so maybe there's a hope that they'll naturally fall in love with someone that their parents already approve of. It's not considered something strange, they might even see it as something goid so when they are put into that match hopefully they go into it trying to make it work and I guess in some cases the love comes and in some cases it doesn't. I think it also speaks to the way this shows how women can be mistreated in these kind of systems because if a lord doesn't like his wife it's not very shocking if he goes out and has a bunch of Mistresses and bastards but she can't do the same. Also you already have a cat you cannot also have a woof. greedy! Even though the wall only covers the northern border of the land it stretches coast to coast so they can't go around because there is Sea on both sides Good episode setting up a lot of the political stuff

I gotta watch hers too lol

I liked how Varys was moving in this episode. He seems to be on Ned's side and wants to help the Starks. Could be that he thinks Ned is needed to keep the realm's peace or support a better ruling power I felt bad for Jon. He's no longer in a position to help his family since he has taken the wall's oath. Wish we could've seen that internal struggle a bit more but winter is getting closer and closer I felt bad for Barristan too. Man was forced into retirement/confinement(?) cause they considered him an eyesore. Jaime respected him too. Would he be proud of his new position knowing how Barristan was dismissed?

I think if you find love and marry before any political conflicts or propositions come out you might just be allowed to get married. But usually you are promised to someone when you're pretty young so you don't get the chance. It probably goes smoother if you're in love with someone from a good family Robert was supposed to marry Lyanna Stark before Rhaegar kidnapped her. Ned's father and brother went to kings landing to ask for her back and were killed by the king. That's why Ned got involved in helping Robert, along with being his bestie Unfortunately Drogo is not too different from what happens even in Kings Landing. The only difference is basically that he doesn't speak the same language as her and that it happened on the beach instead of a bed. The treatment of women until very recent times in history has been atrocious. Yooooo no one's ever pointed that out but you're so right, in and out of a fight you need to be the most wary of liars and what they tell you. It's cool to see Ned and Arya learning the same lesson in different ways. I do think Varys is on Neds side hence keeping him up to date and bringing him water but he is smarter about it than some of the people around him. He does what he must to stay alive in order to further help the realm. A dead man cannot help anyone. It's interesting to see Varys and how he moves differently from people like Littlefinger and Pycelle. I think all of them hate the Lannisters but go along with them for their safety and for their own gain. It's interesting that Varys isn't cruel about it though. When Sansa is asking for forgiveness Varys even calls her wise, meanwhile Pycelle is going off about how she can't be trusted. Littlefinger asks for them to give her a chance but he's so slimy it's obvious he's doing it for himself vs actually caring about Sansa. I'm really enjoying these post episode questions and comments! Lol I think even the Starks forget about Rickon

The youngest Stark is Rickon and yeah we've barely seen him lol I'm suprised you remembered he existed at all honestly, a lot of reactors are like "who the hell is he?" when he pops up again in this episode.
