to answer your 1st question, my first watch was so long ago but i think at that point i was hoping Arya was at least half serious when she made that statement bc Joffrey irked me so much already. of all people, Arya holding a grudge against someone like him is understandable since he almost killed her with his horrendous sword swinging, had gotten her close friend Mycah killed for absolutely no reason other than his wanting to look “cool” and powerful in front of Sansa and failing miserably, his family had Lady killed, they tried to kill Nymeria so she had to get rid of her own direwolf for her safety. it might have been just a passing comment out of anger at everything that happened, but i’m hoping it planted a teeny tiny seed in her brain especially just combining that with the resentment she was likely already feeling at the Lannister family essentially breaking up her entire family within one visit (i.e. Ned leaving to become the King’s hand, Sansa leaving to potentially become Joffrey’s wife / a princess in King’s Landing, her mom Cat and Robb having to stay in Winterfell with Bran who is still bed-ridden, while she accompanies her dad/sister to the South, and Jon heading off to the Night’s watch..) i feel like her channeling her anger/resentment and any animosity towards the Lannisters and Joffrey himself as she learns to master swordsmanship and how to handle Needle would make a great deal of sense 🫡 i can see why her sentiment about her sister is not as serious and just her emotionally venting bc clearly Arya values her familial ties so even though she’s full of anger for her now because of her recent actions, that’s her sister. i think it’d take more for Arya to cut off family members esp someone as close in age to her as her sister is (i think they’re 2 yrs apart in show). of course Bran is only 1 yr younger than Arya but i think the dynamics are different esp bc there’s different expectations placed on the Stark boys vs Stark girls.. Sansa is older so it does seem like Arya would want to hold more respect for her just based on this alone? even if it’s subconscious bc maybe she’d WANT to look up to her sister, she’d WANT to have a role model so i think Arya is just angry and disappointed in her sister since she already has values that she wants to uphold that Sansa did not uphold when it was really needed tldr- all this to say that it does feel like Arya WOULD be serious about wanting to kill Joffrey eventually.. dramatic yes but idk, her character at this point in time feels like she would at least strive to have enough skill and wit to be able to try if presented with an opportunity to do so. if not for him specifically, for anyone who tries to interfere with her family or values she holds dear. it feels like she would be about it fr, if she needed to or if she was pushed too far. BUT since it’s so early on, it was prob just a passing comment that she could use to vent her current frustrations (i do hope she takes it as motivation to keep learning how to defend herself though). anyways i think the writing so far is so good though bc her morals already shine through and show what kind of character she is, and it’s only been a few eps!! to answer the other question: - yes i think it would be helpful to remember the convo between Tyrion and Theon Greyjoy just to at least remember the fact that there was a rebellion and that Theon is a captured squire in winterfell other comments: - ngl i forgot they had vaes dothrak too.. whole ass city but you’re right, they def were giving nomadic.. - maybe Daenerys is more so in the current mindset as “if you can’t beat em, join em” so that’s why it doesn’t feel like she’s rebelling, and just coming more into her role as a khaleesi - i too love how Ned is so quick to think of comebacks when conversing with people - Little Finger does feel shady, his name does NAWT help and the fact that everyone has spies in king’s landing.. very curious environment indeed !! glad you’ve been enjoying the journey so far :) sorry for the essay omfg.

Man Cat should’ve held on a little longer. Why did she do that to the Dwarf?! Sorry I cannot spell his name. Arya is my fav character so far. And why do I have a feeling the the Dragon will get himself killed? He’s such an asshole

I always had a feeling Arya was going to defy all the social norms of her time. It hinted since her first scene with the bow and arrow. Cat definitely went crazy at the end lol.

I remember thinking Arya had a deep fascination for fighting and had a strong spirit. But I thought she was throwing a tantrum about Sansa and definitely hated Joffrey Sam is a good lad and Jon is a better lad for standing up for him Tyrion was such a jerk for bringing up Theon's back story lol. (Same for the Littlefinger telling Sansa about the Hound) From what I remember, the House of Greyjoy live on islands and had a naval army? That's why Jaime Lannister says "it was like seeing a shark on a mountaintop" when speaking about Theon. Cat was wild for using her connections to get swords drawn on Tyrion. She didn't have solid proof that he did it so this felt abrupt and premature on her end since she's so intelligent. But I guess she was focused on getting justice for Bran. Her maternal instincts went off lol

I think jousting is known to have been historically a really dangerous event. Even if you just get knocked off your horse you can break your neck and die so it's kind of senseless entertainment like the Gladiators in the colosseums. For a show where women can often be ill treated it is nice to show that both Dany and Kat Stark made some power moves in this episode. Yeah you got the Theon stuff summarized well and with plot points like that they will usually introduce briefly in one episode but then always come back around to it.

i cant wait to see more of your reactions to cersei its funny how much you dont like her

Ur reactions to anything the lannisters do is so funny 😭

I can't remember my first impression of Aria, it was so long ago. But I love how she stands on business. She knows who her friends are and who her enemies are, and she loves to hold a grudge!! I think your thoughts on Sansa at the end of the conversation are pretty spot on, She is a young girl who wants to be mature before she is ready for any of the responsibility

Alyson

Some thoughts and info: You don't need to remember every single detail about battles but Theon's backstory is kind of important. Basically Ned Stark defeated Theons dad at a battle and it's formality to take a son or something kind of as payment?? Ned being Ned though, he wasn't gonna treat that boy badly so Theon kind of grew up with Ned's own sons and daughters and he's seen by the kid's as an honorary brother. He's super close with Robb since they're close in age Ser Jorah said they were poachers he caught on his land but selling them to slavers is still yikessss The Dothraki are nomads I think but the Dothraki city like a meeting spot. I think the horses are very helpful for transportation/their lifestyle so they're very respected. Their horses are like an extension of themselves Apparently the actors who played the wolves were very hard to work with so they don't show them unless necessary but just assume they're always around lol I hadn't thought about it but you're so right, The Watch is just trauma bonding LMAO

Some Names: Theon Greyjoy- hostage/ward of Ned Stark Hodor- big guy helping carry around Bran Samwell Tarly- Jon's new friend, kicked out by his father Ser Allister Thorne- guy training the recruiters with a stick up his butt Lord Varys AKA the spider- bald guy from the Kings council, a eunich, has little birds watching Jory Cassel- captain of Ned's Starks guard, dude with long dark hair. Basically Ned's right hand man Gendry- bastard of Robert Ros- I can't blame them lol. (Prostitute everyone talks about) Ser Gregor Clegane/ The Mountain- burned his little brother The Hound- Joffreys babysitter/guard, burned by his brother Viserys- Danys Brother middle brother Rhaegar- Danys oldest brother who they killed during Roberts Rebellion for kidnapping Ned's sister. He's mentioned a bunch so it's good knowledge Aerys Targaryen- Mad King everyone keeps talking about, killed by Jaime

Daniela V.

I am loving these reactions! Keep em coming!
