I really, really, really loved this drama. It quickly became my favorite of all time and that's saying a lot for someone that's been watching k dramas since 2008. I could probably write a thesis on all of the things this drama did right. First of all, the casting was spot on and the chemistry was incredible. The writing was TIGHT nothing dragged on too long and everything had a purpose. Grandma having dimensia from the beginning felt like the happy solution wasnt a copout, but a beautiful allegory bringing us full circle. Nothing felt rushed. it was full of heart and emotion without being frustratingly angsty and you never had to suffer too long emotionally with this show. Another favorite thing of mine especially shown in the last episodes is how absolutely consistent the characters are through every timeline. There was time travel, but they are all the same personalities so of course the will make similar choices and be the same kind of dweebs as they always were. I think Byeon Wooseok (Sunjae) was especially great at slightly changing the character based on age and circumstances but keeping the core personality and flaws consistent. Ugh so good.

I've already watched it 3 times including watching it with you!! Im really excited for you to check out Alchemy of Souls next!! That's one I slept on for a long time, and I regret not being a part of the audience that watched it when it came out!!

2024-09-03 05:47:39 +0000 UTCMan this was such a fun watch! I think this did so well because of the actors and their chemistry. The two leads played a major role for why the drama did so well. I was watching the drama while it running, so I was happy when the last ep was wholesome after all that stress. It’s also been a while since I really loved the second lead for the FL. I definitely wanted Taesung to have a happy ending. Hopefully in another drama😄. Also, from what I have seen in dramas, couples set up a meeting with both families when they are planning to get married. Similar to what you saw at the restaurant. Sol’s mother also mentioned this could be the marriage meeting. Hopefully you get better soon!

And I find some romcoms more stressful than thrillers like if i see an episode preview of the main couple arguing over some bs, i drop it so fast lol i do not have the energyy The last one i finished was Moving last year i think (which was great). I tried getting back into kdramas with queen of tears and just could not handle it haha

Taesung was great, I thought there were some holes/inconsistencies even though peeps told me I wasn't paying attention because of them lol. Fine watch overall! Glad you could enjoy them more with me, next stop, Business Proposal!

2024-09-03 03:05:52 +0000 UTCok to me personally this was just extremely average... idk if i get the hype?? w/ romcoms, they have to give me characters that i really really love to hook me. these characters were fine, but was i invested in them? not really (except taesung ofc, give him a spin off NOW <3) & the plot was all over the place/weak imo i said it before but some of my fav endings are the bittersweet/sad ones, so i was lowkey hoping for a bittersweet one. i thought maybe that would make me finally feel something for this couple lmao no offense to the ones who adore this drama lol 😅 i'm glad you enjoyed it tho, your reactions made it more enjoyable for me too!!

2024-09-03 02:41:46 +0000 UTCman every time that "cause im falling slowly in love with youuuuuuu" comes in... got my eyes sweating lollI and granny is the ultimate scene stealer also the murderer guy getting the kdrama truck treatment within the first 5 min of the episode took me out lmaooo like even the writers were done with him I haven't been able to finish a whole kdrama in a while until this one, I usually drop them around episode 12 so i really enjoyed watching this along with you!

Sungjae crying after granny talked to him was unscripted! Wooseok really felt the love and sincerity from her and he couldn’t keep himself from crying. Which honestly same granny has made me feel all the things throughout the show. I’m so glad you watched and enjoyed it all the way through! I agree there were bits and pieces that annoyed me or broke the emersion here and there, but overall the story was so well written and it’s easily one of my faves now! Can’t wait for Alchemy of Souls! And I also hope your neck gets better soon 🥺

I just wanted to jump ahead to say that I'm really enjoying this show and your reactions to it. I know engagement is never as high on episode 16 of a show as it is on episode 1 but I wouldn't be surprised if there are other people who are still making their way through the episodes with you and also people who would join based on you having checked out this show so I think this was a good one to do.
