Also imo I don’t think the choreo for smart is inappropriate bec it is a dance style and they are pro dancers….also they really do dance like that for that genre of music(even young kids dances like that for that kind of music) 😊

Fun fact: haruka is still a trainee at hybe she appeared on their survival show “ru next” but was eliminated. I thinkaside from talents, age etc..the company is also looking at the grp’s chemistry with each other, their star quality, and the diff things they can bring to the table(kura and chaewon having prior experience as an idol, yunjin having a background in opera and being able to be a producer & writer for the grp, zuha having ballet experience, and eunchae being the maknae being tge maknae and also part of a cover dance grp from def academy before)…bec if you look at it..Le sserafim does have some insane chemistry w/ eachother and each have some individual star qualities…(ages: sakura: 1998, chaewon: 2000, yunjin: 2001, kazuha: 2003, & eunchae: 2006)………you should definitely continue checking this documentary out(it’s only up to 4 episodes anyway)

Yunjin(pledis trainee) was part of produce 48 that made izone(sakura and chaewons grp) but was was eliminated(she was evil edited..and she was around 16 at that time). She also trained at SM before with aespa’s ningning and winter(she used to be roomates with winter) and she also trained with new jean’s minji and hanni(she mentioned that she used to do hanni’s eyeliner and makeup for evaluations when they were a trainee) then i think after being in debut many times(like what happened to haruka) and failing to debut everytime, she decided to give up on the idea of becoming an idol and go back home to New York to attend college as a business student(she mentioned that she already got accepted at a university in boston and that she already payed her college tuition but the next morning hybe called her and asked her to be part of le sserafim)

What I find fascinating about this documentary is that it's about the origins of the group but by default as a viewer you know that you're not actually getting the whole story because they had to exclude the entire Garam storyline. You can argue that it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things since she was only in the group for some weeks but there's still an element of them being put together, the decisions that were made and the initial group chemistry that we will never know about.
Eunchae is still a minor her 18th is in November but Koreans are still kind of going by the you're a minor until you're 20 in Korean age thing as well even though the law has changed. There's a number of ways you can look at it, it benefits a company to put younger members in because they will also market these k-pop groups to fans of a similar age and the young member is usually quite popular. I'm also cynical enough to believe these companies know what they're doing and know that grown fans who have way more money to spend will also tune in to a group with younger members it's a tried and true formula and happens in both girl and boy groups. There's a lot of discourse about it lately but it's always been like that in Kpop and I don't think these companies are really being given a reason to change things. People are outraged on social media but it doesn't actually impact their pockets so they don't care.

to answer ur question at the end, honestly the kpop industry does not care abt exploiting minors and kids unfortunately. so many older gen girl groups were exploited and had to do mature concepts that were not appropriate for their age (ex hyuna) and some have even spoken abt how that affected them. that’s why whenever I see these young girl idols with a majority of grown ass men at their fansigns being weird makes me so upset. you can like music at any age but they fr just be so weird towards idols sometimes :/ and it doesn’t help w the way they’re marketed
