July 2021 + NEW Art History Brushes!

Hey everyone!

Hope you’re enjoying the summer. It was an exciting month here with the big move - we’re a family of four so, needless to say, a lot of boxes were involved. Slowly sorting through things and getting the new space in order. My studio space is currently painted a color called "Kiwi Kiss", so new paint is at the top of the list. I did manage to get some Texture days in this month though - there’s a great overgrown old cemetery just down the street, so I spent a bit of time lurking around trying to get some good granite and fieldstone images. Next time there’s a nice overcast day, I plan on getting a lot more good shots over there.

Lot’s of ideas in the works! In the meantime, new this month:

PLUS!

As you can see, I shot some more brush strokes this month… I’ve been wanting to dig back into the Art History Brush and explore it’s further potential. I put together a few new brushes that I’m including here for the Patreon supporters only! I’ll attach them to this post  and also upload here. They function in the same way as the Oil Paint brushes from the tutorial a few months ago, but create some cool new looks. The CUBISM brushes are particularly fun for landscapes, or just creating abstract backgrounds.

More on the way…

As always, a huge thank you for your support!

Cheers,

Brady

No problem - thank YOU! :)

Awesome! Nice work on the rim lighting and the the eyes - that's incredibly hard to get right. Thanks for sharing!

I popped it up for direct linking. This was for someone who wanted a birthday present for their friend, a portrait done as an old movie-poster style painting, with the Dracula-style lighting on the eyes, rim light, etc. I suggested the crazy colors. It all went over well, client loved it! (I think Patreon makes you copy-and-paste the link...) https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/53b2b129e4b08c508ab8867a/1630910025028-7905M5PMIWGGWIKDIB77/portrait-bef-aft.jpg?format=1500w

Oh nice, that's great to hear! If you end up posting on your site, drop a link so everyone can check it out.

I just did an assignment for a happy client, using the original art history brushes you provided, along with a few of my own. I wish there was a way to attach pictures here to show it off!

Hey John, Awesome, I'd love to hear how they work out with the setup. Interesting about the pattern stamp tool - it does seem to have commonalities with the art history brush, but a few unique features too... I've been meaning to do some experimenting with that. Glad you got those brushes though - hope they might be useful!

hi Brady, Somehow I saw the new Art History Brush package announced, then forgot about it and only now just refound it. I've developed a Photoshop auto-painting scheme which operates using the Pattern Stamp and Art History Brush Tools - will incorporate your Brushes in that project and see what's the outcome soon. Thanks for your initiatives in Patreon.
