April 2021 - What a month!!!

Hey everyone,

Well... it seems that the Youtube algorithm has discovered the Texturelabs project! In the previous months, views had gone up to about 1000 per day (which I was very excited about). Then, out of the blue, the Engraving tutorial from January must have triggered a turbo boost switch. I logged into YouTube and was looking at 50,000 views in a single day…. WHAT!!??

That also made for a very exciting month here in the Patreon group. So I’m thrilled to welcome new supporters of the project - welcome and a gigantic thank you for your belief in and support of the project. And to the folks who have been here since the start, my continued absolute gratitude!

I’m actually going to follow up this update post with another post inviting anyone in the group to introduce themselves. I’ve exchanged messages with a handful of you guys - it’s an interesting, thriving, creative group of people here of all skill levels and backgrounds. So if you feel inclined, please do tell us a bit about yourself and your work!

I’m looking forward to the coming months and beyond - some cool stuff in the works here. Keep an eye out for a new tutorial Monday (the 3rd) with some retro halftone effects...

A few new things peppered around the site - I actually just uploaded about a dozen new roller ink textures. I’ve found myself consistently using stuff from that section, hope you guys also find them useful!
