Behind The Microphone... My first recording experience

Today, I recorded a bit of audio at my dining room table.  Sometimes I just get so tired of my freezing, cold basement, which feels so disconnected from the world.  Today I just needed some scenery that felt more bright and closer to life.

For some reason, it triggered a memory of my first recording using professional software.

Picture this..... a very young Mistress Amethyst standing in front of a music stand, which held pages of a printed hypnosis script, with cords and cables leading into the bedroom of "J", my boss, who was manning the CakeWalk software.

The year was 2001, and I had just started a hypnosis business idea with my boss, from the hypnosis clinic.  We had written several scripts together for weight loss, stress reduction, and the usual vanilla hypnosis that everyone does.  Our intention was to use sound effects, dual voices (male and female), and to take a different path, than the other hypnotists out there selling CD's to the masses.  For 2001, that was a pretty progressive idea in the hypnosis world.

So there I was, standing in his spare, empty bedroom, loaded up with noise reduction foam, with the music stand in front of me.  I had headphones on, merely as a communication method.  "J" would tell me when to begin speaking, when to stop, etc.

I can't help but laugh right now, as I sit here at my dining room table, thinking back to that day.  Today I realized that the dining room is not the best place for recording audio.  It was worth trying out today, but it was a bit weird, and will be my last time to record here.... just like recording in "J's" spare bedroom was weird.  Maybe that's what triggered the memory; the weirdness of it all.

"J" was my best friend, and our business never really began, because he got involved in a cult - that's another story - but I'm sure everything worked out exactly right, so that I could be here, right now, sitting at my dining room table, telling all of you about my first professional software recording experience.

It's also a reminder that some things just aren't "in the cards" for you, because there's something better waiting around the corner.  All of you, reading this right now, are my "something better", and for that, I am very thankful.

Love you all

xoxo

I have witnessed this with many who have taken a similar path. I am happy for you Mistress Amethyst, and I love being a part of you too. But it is not easy. It takes a lot of work time, and I just hope you don't put yourself under so much stress. We are much more patient than you think. And your health is important to us. Please take care of yourself mistress.

You're so precious, so irreplaceable - I'm so thankful to be part of Your "something better"💜

Congratulations, Mistress Amethyst. You not only managed to break out of the basement for some sunshine, you have successfully survived in a creative long term business enterprise. It really demonstrates that you have something to offer which others value.

When I graduated from college with an art degree I knew people were saying albeit not to my face, "What the hell is he going to do with an art dergee?" Well, I've been an illustrator for almost 40 years now so... that I guess.. lol
